Summary

The Blue Coyote is an IndieBRAG Medallion honoree and a finalist in the 2013 CLUE Awards.

Frannie and Larry Shoemaker love taking their grandchildren, Sabet and Joe, camping with them. But at Bluffs State Park, Frannie finds herself worrying more than usual about their safety, and when another young girl disappears from the campground in broad daylight, her fears increase. The fun of a bike ride, a flea market, marshmallow guns, and a storyteller are quickly overshadowed. Accusations against Larry and her add to the cloud over their heads. Frannie begins to puzzle out the mystery: Are the itinerant road workers as much of a threat as Frannie thinks? What about the lone woman camper who also disappears? Or is the girl's deadbeat dad behind it all?

Very Well Done

This is my first exposure to this series and I enjoyed the story told! The book reminds me of old shows like Diagnosis Murder. Nicely done, likeable characters but if you knew people like that in real life, with the amount of death and crime they encounter you’d probably steer well clear!

Having said that, this book actually tackles a pretty serious topic and it’s tackled in a very thoughtful way. It isn’t over the top and it’s not played down. I respect the way the author wrote the story in this one.

We get a good old fashioned mystery, some great characters and intrigue as things start slowly coming together. The pacing was excellent - just what it needed to be and I really enjoyed the journey!

Michelle did a great job of bringing life to the characters and bringing out some personality. Very well spoken narrator and very easy to listen to!

If you want some easy listening, I definitely recommend this one!

The Blue Coyote

The Blue Coyote is a fantastic book listen. I didn't realize that I would be pulled into the story like I was. The Author did a great job writing the story. The Narrator really did an amazing job reading the story and really put the effort in to bring it to life. I wasn't disappointed. loved every second of the book.

Wonderful cosy mystery!

Overall: 4½ stars
I loved the story. It was a cute cosy mystery without being cheesy and the characters were well-developed. I thought Michelle Babb narrated this book wonderfully, She speaks clearly and sounds like she love narrating (compared to many a-list actors who sound bored). I liked that the story tidied up nicely with no loose ends. At just under 5 hours, it was a joy to listen to in 1 day. I will definitely give this author another try as I would love to read/listen to more adventures of Franny & Larry!
Yes, I do recommend this book.

A good cozy mystery

I'm currently on holiday so this was a great choice for me.
An entertaining mystery about a group of older people who are excellent at solving crime.
The narration is good although I found it a tad too fast in places so slowed the playback to 90% which had the added benefit of making it last longer.
If you love mysteries then you'll probably enjoy this.

Absorbing story

Format: audiobook
Narrator: Michelle Babb

While camping with their grandchildren Frannie and Larry Shoemaker find themselves dragged into a child abduction incident with the finger of suspicion pointing at Larry!

Cosy mysteries are not usually my favourite genre but this is the second Frannie Shoemaker story I’ve listened to and I find myself enjoying not only the mystery but the banter and relationships between Frannie, Larry and their group of friends.

Good narration and a good story, what more do you need.

A parent's worst nightmare

A young girl is missing and Frannie's ex-cop husband is a suspect. Not just one worst nightmare scenario, but two.

As always, Michelle Babb's narration serves to elevate what is already a page-turner.

Really looking forward to the next in the series.
