About this listen
This is the story of how your life shapes your brain and how your brain shapes your life. Locked in the silence and darkness of your skull, the brain fashions the rich narratives of your reality and your identity.
Join renowned neuroscientist David Eagleman for a journey into the questions at the heart of our existence. What is reality? Who are 'you'? How do you make decisions? Why does your brain need other people? How is technology poised to change what it means to be human?
In the course of his investigations, Eagleman guides us through the world of extreme sports, criminal justice, facial expressions, genocide, brain surgery, gut feelings, robotics, and the search for immortality.
Strap in for a whistle-stop tour into the inner cosmos. In the infinitely dense tangle of billions of brain cells and their trillions of connections, something emerges that you might not have expected to see in there: you.

Highly recommended!
The book is written in a very engaging way, with great narrator (author) and amazing facts to learn!
Narrator speaks slowly and clearly for the listeners to be able to catch his thought but it didn't make the book feel boring or to stretch - it was just the pace needed not to have to rewind.
I haven't been reading any similar books, so the book was original for me.
The book gave a whole new perspective how to look at the world, your self and yourself in it. Amazing "eye opener"! I think you cannot read it and have no influence on how you see the world afterwards!
If you enjoyed listening to our future possibilities (is it possible to copy a brain?) and would want to indulge yourself more in them - to actually feel how it is to know what will be next --> I recommend reading / listening to "Dennis E. Taylor - We Are Legion (We Are Bob)" afterwards! I bet it will feel like a continuum to this book! It feels like Taylor has read and had total influence from "The Brain"! Both books are amazing in their own way!

Side show bob?
Great book well read. I thought it was going to be a little bit dumbed down from the start with lines like "a part of the brain called the amygdala", however I think the author did well to keep it at a certain level that was still interesting.
I couldn't help thinking that the book was being read by side show bob though, to my untrained ear it sounded like the same voice as 'The Simpson's' character!
Good read. Would recommend.

I love the audiobooks that I can finish soon. This one feels a bit just too soon. A lot of beautiful information, was worth listening to every second. Now on the search for another great companion
