Summary
With the end of the war, the victorious Germans now occupy a defeated Great Britain. In London, decorated detective John Henry Rossett, now reporting to the Nazi victors, lies in a hospital bed recovering from gunshot wounds. Desperate to avoid blame over the events that led to the shooting, his boss, Ernst Kohler, covers up the incident. Alt history and questions of redemption
Can someone who worked to remove Jewish people be redeemed. I’m not sure this book answers that question. The character in question is trying to redeem himself but I found it unconvincing. It’s hard to say you’ve ‘enjoyed’ a book where several main characters are unrepentant Nazis and everyone else is pretty unpalatable but it was an interesting story and well told.
