About this listen
Fake marry her brother’s best friend to catch a killer? Sure.... What could go wrong?
Growing up on a ranch with four older brothers, Ella Mae Hawkins is no stranger to rugged and tough men. But her heart has always belonged to the one man she couldn’t have.
After a secret, romantic weekend three years ago with him leaves her brokenhearted, Ella Mae accepts an opportunity to go to Paris and pursue her fashion dreams. It’s supposed to be her chance to get away and start over.
Instead, she’s going there with the same stubborn man who claimed he was too dangerous for her—as his fake wife.
Jesse McAdams, a former Army Ranger, has spent half his life away from his small hometown. But one thing has always remained true: One woman owns his heart. The problem? She could never know how he really feels.
But after their hot weekend in New York, it’s been harder than ever to resist the sassy, headstrong Ella Mae. Especially when they can’t share a room without arguing, which often leads to desire.
Joining the team at Falcon Falls Security was supposed to bring the redemption he needed, so he can finally be the man Ella Mae deserves. Instead, the fabric of lies he’s woven over time quickly unravels, exposing his secrets, and places a target on the heads of everyone he cares about.
Despite her shock over his past, Ella Mae finds herself falling for her brother’s best friend all over again. But this time, the stakes are higher. This time, she’s in danger. And the man who put her there is now her husband.
Can Jesse protect her, and piece Ella’s heart back together? Or will he shatter it? For good...

Fabulous book
Oh my! This book was almost indescribable . It had so much to it that it’s hard to know where to start. The emotional turmoil you feel whilst reading is heartbreaking. Your feelings are dragged thro the ringer all the way thro the story. The pain and denial are palpable the whole time. Once you learn the history of these two characters pain and thoughts, your heart hurts for them. You want to scream and shout at them that it’s not their fault, this is one of the most complex stories with so many twists and turns it will keep you hooked from the first page to the last. Wonderful series and I cannot wait for the next book now! This is gonna be very intriguing I’m sure. Wonderful narration as well.

Brittney did it again! 5 ⭐️
We finally get the Jesse/Ella story and are hit with all emotions. They have had this push/pull, hot/cold thing going for years and we finally get to see all the emotions they’ve been holding back. I cried, laughed and smiled. The suspense unfolded like a cruel game, getting tenser and tenser each chapter. The book was emotional and it was so touching how Jesse and Ella showed their emotions. We had the Stealth Ops and Falcon Falls characters in the book too. Great narrators as always. Brittney Sahin sure knows how to write a fantastic romance suspense that draws you in that ends with a beautiful HEA. I can’t wait for Beckett and Carter’s books!

Absolutely amazing!
This audiobook was absolutely amazing! I have already read The Broken One and with this being only my second audiobook ever, I'm quickly realizing that I have been missing out on such an experience by not trying audibooks sooner! You just feel everything so much more! The tension, the heartache, the love. I adored Jesse and Ella for so long and finally getting to experience their love story was unbelievable and completely unforgettable! I love Brittney's stories, they are so knowledgeable and so real! She puts so much research into them that you will feel like you're with her characters taking part in all these high stake missions. The narrators were phenomenal and put me into the story quickly and kept me hooked until the very end! Can't wait to listen to another one of Brittney's amazing works come to life!
