Summary

Lincoln Rhyme's cousin has been arrested for murder. The evidence clearly shows he did it, but Rhyme agrees to check things out. It turns out that the cousin, along with other people, has been wrongly convicted because the true killer knows every single detail about the lives of the victims he kills and the men he sets up to take the fall for those crimes.

Rhyme, Sachs and the rest of the team have to find out who at the huge, ominous data mining company is getting access to this information. Meanwhile the villain realises he's being pursued and turns his knowledge of data and information into a weapon...

Suspense Thriller

Lincoln Rhyme's cousin has been arrested for murder which he did not commit although most felons would say that, and he hasn't reached out to Rhyme since his accident but his wife does and Lincoln promises to look into the case. It's a lot more of personal identity theft and what you can do and get up to if you are computer literate.
As with all Rhymes books, there is a lot going on and still has all the usual clans there working with him as well as their day jobs.
The audio is near 14hrs long and as with all Deavers books there is also a lot of meaningful waffle but once past that it's a good story.

perfect reading of this book

the narrator keeps you listening even when you want a cup of tea or wee, and the speed of his narrating the parts where you are carried along at a pace you can feel the tension and excitement in his voice, it really adds to the pleasure of listening to this audio book and typical Deaver twist and final solving are brilliant. A great listen

digital crime

An interesting voyage into a world of identity theft with a dark and violent plot. Kept me gripped throughout! I really enjoyed this book - a twisting intriguing plot.

Love the combination of writer & narrator

I deliberately sought out a Deaver novel narrated by George Guidall. Having listened to the Cold Moon, I was keen to repeat the experience of the perfect voice for the story. And I found it. Loved it.

Keeps you guessing till the end!

Where does The Broken Window rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It had been a few years since I read the last JD novel in the Rhyme series and I'm glad I've started to listen again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Broken Window?

Finding out about what potentially the data miners know about us!!!

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He clearly differentiate between the characters and his accents were pretty good.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No.

One of the best

This story has to be the best Lincoln Rhyme story I have listened to so far. It had everything, from murder, crime scenes, robberies, distrust, shock, red herrings and suspects galore. A great book.
