Summary

A paintball battleground. A wrestling mat for sleep-deprived new daddies. A feminine product aisle in the local drugstore. These are some of the places where men connect...at least in The Bromantic Comedies.

A compilation of humorous and heartfelt plays exploring what it means to be "masculine" in a world where men are supposed to be tough.

Absolutely brilliant

Erin Mallon is such an amazing playwright. I love her plays. They always bring more than you expect. Take these six short plays for example. You expect them to be funny and entertaining, and make no mistake, they are. But they are also thought-provoking, and at times, emotional.

We tend to have such singular views on what masculinity is and these plays give us chance to not only view it differently but actually think about how we view it and why. And how we can view it differently.

Performed by Joe Arden, Jason Clarke, PJ Ochlan, Lance Greenfield, Shane East, and Teddy Hamilton. These guys all bring something unique to the stories they are performing and these plays give them a chance to showcase skills we very rarely see from them on their romance narration. I laughed. I cried. I sat and thought about things. I jumped in a chat with my best girlfriends to discuss. Absolutely brilliant.

Wonderful selection of male-centred stories

I had no idea Erin Mallon, in addition to being a fantastic narrator, is an amazing playwright! This short listen is packed with six stories about what it means to be a man. Some are funny and satirical, emotional and human, and one that took me by surprise. I actually listened to it twice because-the first time around, I was excited to hear the stories, which the narrators gave lots of energy. I loved them! From paintball at Man Camp, to a crazy dialogue between cat & fish, to Baby Fight Club, and my favourite, a heartfelt discussion between two men in a pharmacy. Joe Arden, Jason Clarke, PJ Ochlan, Lance Greenfield, Shane East, and Teddy Hamilton all do an outstanding job of bringing these characters alive in all their manliness!

Thanks to Erin Mallon, who gifted me a copy of this outstanding piece of work. My opinions are my own, freely provided.

What a pleasurable listen!

I love Erin Mallon’s plays and this was no exception All the narrators did an amazing job and I had plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. My favorite of the bunch was BABY FIGHT CLUB and Teddy Hamilton’s performance in this one was the best for me too. Runner-up was DOMESTICATION. But in all honesty I liked all six plays a lot. It was a nice sidestep from my romance listening and (eye-ball) reading
