What a wonderful book!
This was Graham Greene's last novel. It is a real little gem of a book. I particularly loved the gentle humour in it. It has a bit of everything in it; love, morality, politics, human nature, scepticism, and intrigue, all wound together with delicate threads. I highly recommend it.

A story of two halves.
As the last novel published by Greene this is a most unlikely Greene novel. The second half becomes a very typical Greene novel but the first half is not like anything else that Greene wrote thar I have read. in fact not like anything else I have read anywhere. It is almost as if it was the start of a novel he found and decided to finish it off years later - just as the storyline suggests.

Wonderful little read.
Enjoyed this unusual little book which is read so well by Kenneth Branagh. Very different from Greene's usual style of writing.

Who or what is King Kong?
The Captain and the Enemy, is a well written novel, and the narration is excellent.
It's an interesting, and unusual story from Greene, who allows the listener/reader to form their own views on the characters and events within. The ending is in my opinion deliberately unsatisfactory, and raises more questions - and the answers will differ from person to person. Who is the Enemy?
A thought provoking and sophisticated novel, it asks questions about morality, the family, commitment, and human nature.

Great mini-novel, not common these days
This is the type of novel that is becoming more and more obsolete. Very engaging story with a great mix of intrigue.
Excellent narration too. Full marks from me.

Loved it
Initially was unsure as I thought this was a little short, but it was absolutely brilliant, great story and great narrator. If you like Graham Green I don't think you'll be dissapointed

Entertaining but not Greene at his best
Any additional comments?
Well read and a good listen for people that enjoy Greene's novels, but not a classic.

True Love
So sad I've finished this book. It's magical, enchanting, and delicately spun. The characters are original and heroic, lifted by sacrifice from antihero to hero, giving everything they've got to the purest type of love that asks for nothing in return. A deep and inspiring story from soul to soul.
Kenneth Branagh was definitely the right man for the job. T'riffic.
