About this listen
Phryne Fisher, her sister Beth, and her faithful maid Dot take a trip to an amusement park with Phryne's two daughters Ruth and Jane. But in the dusty dark Ghost Train, a mummified bullet-studded corpse falls to the ground in front of them. Digging to the bottom of this long-standing mystery takes her to the country town of Castlemaine where it soon becomes obvious that someone is trying to muzzle her investigations. Meanwhile, Phryne's lover Lin Chung has his own mystery to solve.

The Castlmaine Murders
Another terrifically good murder mystery, this one they find they are under attach after Miss Fisher discovers a real body in the haunted train ride, and discover it is a missing Lord who went missing in Australia during the gold rush. Read brilliantly again by Stephanie Daniel.

Too much plot; not enough fashion and frolics
This is a long book with a lot of plot and not as lighthearted as usual. There is barely any description of clothes or food or romantic liaisons.

Good fun.
The Castlemaine Murders was excellent. I have read many of the Phryne Fisher books before, but this is the first time I have listened to an audiobook version. Stephanie Daniel was superb, the characters interesting and the story compelling. I finished it in two days, sat in our garden with the sun shining and the smell of the hyacinths surrounding me. Highly recommended.
