Summary
Told in the form of a letter from an academic to his estranged brother, The Color of Dad is a darkly comic short story of a married couple, Nathaniel and Cate, in crisis, from the critically acclaimed author of The Scapegoat.
I don’t agree with many of the words you’ve used, but I will give you this: They do have a way of looking at you sideways that can be unsettling. So begins a letter from Nathaniel, a PhD candidate who’s recently moved from the east coast to Orinda, California. Nathaniel knows that his brother, Brice, who still lives near their mother in Michigan, couldn’t possibly understand the nuances of his and Cate’s new life: their eclectic community, their work in academia, and the liberal, alternative thinking that shapes the way they’ve handled their fertility issues. But here, he will do his best to explain, and in the process, unravel a poignant psychological portrait of a man desperate for a happy family.

Pleasant enough for 30 minutes
Kept me entertained for just over half an hour whilst waiting for my husband getting home. Gave it 3 stars mainly but an extra star for the overall guidance - performance was 3 stars and the story was 3 stars but overall,a 4 star short story mark

New look at an emotional concept.
Short, but basically an individual outing a theme based therapy. Goal, listen when it's quiet.

Strange, Fascinating, and Moving
Short stories are little windows into the lives of others and this is a particularly odd and emotional one that resonated with me. Judging by the other reviews, your mileage may vary.

Weird
A short story should grab you straight away with a meaningful story and great characters, this had none of that, I havent come across a more unlikeable main character in a long time and why is his wife breast feeding rabbits, what an awful story devoid of any meaning

I don't get it
What did I just listen to? I knew it might be weird, but weird in a worthwhile way. It was not; no profound insight - just a passive-aggressive man writing an angry letter to his brother, justifying a decision he did not want to make and did not believe in. The piece couldn't decide if it was a letter or a story either - some descriptions and narrations flitting between the two genres, interrupting the flow of the story. Poorly written. Narrator was fine. Would not recommend.
