Summary
The charming novel from the author of The Canal Boat Cafe. Perfect for cake lovers and old-fashioned romantics!
On your marks, get set....
Baking fanatic Charlie Quilter, still nursing a broken heart, is surprised when her late uncle bequeaths his vintage 1950s Routemaster bus to her in his will. She adored driving around with him in it when she was a child and can’t contemplate selling it.
When Charlie loses her job, her friend Juliette has an exciting idea and suggests Charlie come to stay with her in the picturesque Cornish village of Porthgolow. Thrilled at the chance of a new start, Charlie packs her spatula, her pinny and her cute dog Marmite onto the bus, and they head off for a summer adventure....

Wonderful Cornish story!
Escape into the world of friendship, misunderstandings, a vintage bus, love and Cornish cream teas. Wonderful story with twists and turns. I’m hoping there will be another book to follow this successful one.

Totally predictable,
Charming in its own way, but predictable, unrealistic and naive. Won’t be reading another from this author.

warm and fuzzy
This is not my usual genre of read, however, I felt I needed a break and something more light hearted. I had seen good reviews for this so thought I would give it a go.
The story is of a woman called Charlie who has just separated from her cheating boyfriend and is grieving the loss of a much loved uncle. In his will the uncle has left Charlie "Gerty" his beloved vintage double decker bus.
Going down to Cornwall to stay with friends, grieve and take stock of her life, Charlie then makes the decision to turn the bus into a cafe.
Along the way she hits some hiccups with other local businesses and residents but in the end manages to win them all over with Gerty and her cornish cream teas. A love story emerges between her and another resident and after a rocky start it's happy endings all round!
A delightful listen (audible) which leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy.

Lovely well-rounded story
I haven't listened to, what I consider to be, a 'fluffy' book for a while because I'd geown tired of them. This book far exceeds the 'fluffy' name and is a very well-rounded and interesting story. My eyes did not roll with annoyance once and the story was not easy to predict, like some are.
Thankfully I've already purchased the next 2 in the series during the Christmas sale...I must have known it would be good!

Too contrived.....
This is really a short story that has been unnecessarily extended to a full length book. The story could have been charming but is actually quite tedious and very predictable (which is not always a bad thing but in this case proved to be a boring outcome.)
If I were Cornish, I think I might feel a bit offended in the way only someone from outside can come in to the area, see the problem and very condescendingly fix it......
