About this listen

Hundreds of thousands of miles away on the dark side of the moon, the Russian lunar base has self-destructed – all personnel are dead, except one. Olga Sobakin, the lone survivor, seeks refuge at the rival American base.

Olga tells the Americans her base was attacked by a horrifying and nightmarish creature. The pattern was the same – people vanished, leaving nothing behind but shredded clothing and an unidentifiable waste product. The Americans are sceptical of her story at first, but then people begin to disappear ...

Back on Earth, just before the American lunar base goes completely dark, a single message is received – ‘Lifeform’. Intercepted whisperings from Russian intelligence indicate a deadly spreading attack and a rising global threat. Escalated to priority one, there’s only one team up for the task.

Alex Hunter and his elite group of HAWCs are on a rescue mission to the desolate and darkest unknown. Who, or what, awaits them on the dark side?

Imaginative as always.

Really good story. Plenty of action and a good plot. The author includes his research after the story ends.
As usual, Sean Mangan reads as slow as he can. I upped the speed to x150 and it was just right.

Being a fan of space horror (if that is a genre), this book really caught my imagination and kept my attention. Highly recommend.

Multiple issue's

First of all I could only get halfway through this. I tried multiple times but found there were too many issues With the story and narrator.

Most issues can be ignored but the choice of narrator is the biggest problem I have with this.Simply put he talks too slow. He sounds like Adam West on slow mode and I was forced to listen at 1.15 speed, add to the fact his voice hardly changes character to character and you sometimes wonder who is talking. The story is full of plot holes which is annoying as I have read every other book in this series. To sum it up read the book instead of listening to it on Audible

'the thing' but on the moon with a silly monster

Very Drawn out. Good background research to do with the science in space.
Pointless android side-plot, weak non-conclusive ending. Mediocre at best.

Just Say No..

I keep dipping into this series hoping it will improve.

truthfully its still as awful as ever. The Narrators breathy style means every character sounds exactly the same. The characterisation is dire and the plot welded together as a cut and shut from any number of sci fi movies. avoid
