Summary

Modern slavery is 71 per cent female.

Eighty per cent of the earth's farmable surface is owned by men.

UK women lose £140 billion a year in wages to the gender pay gap - the equivalent of £10,000 each.

When we fail women, we all lose.

Allowing women farmers the same resources as men would reduce the number of chronically hungry by up to 150 million.

Giving female entrepreneurs in Britain equal access to capital would add £250 billion to the economy.

The global economy's wealth would be £160 trillion higher if gender pay gap were closed.

When we empower women, we all win.

It's time to unlock the power of the Double X Economy.

The Double X Economy describes both the shocking gender inequalities built into the global economy and the collective power of women that could be harnessed to turn these around and combat humankind's most pressing problems. Promoting women's economic empowerment will dramatically boost social, financial and environmental conditions for everybody around the world. Provocative, accessible and game-changing, The Double X Economy is at once an expert analysis and an urgent call to action.

Challenging narrator

The narrator (Kitty Hendrix) made it difficult for me to concentrate on this book as her aggressive, condescending manner made me feel I was being told off for not being aware of these issues instead of being educated on my knowledge gaps.
The author spoke the epilogue and I would have preferred her to have read the book.
The book on the whole was interesting, but repeated the same points over and over again which I suppose is necessary.

Very informative and insightful

All men and women should listen to this book. The book is written in a style that Is easily understood by someone without any background in economics. I will happily listen to it twice.

MUST READ

Such an important topic. Clearly a passionate writer who sometimes come across a bit preachy but the topic is so so important and does not get enough air time. Well researched with practical solutions.
