Firstly I have to admit that I bought this audiobook with no real intention of following the diet- I just wanted to know what it was about.
Basically it's a low-carb diet -though Dukan discusses none of the scientific 'anti-carb' ideas about insulin and so on. His is more a 'calories in/ calories out' approach- with some interesting ideas of how to burn off extra calories- cold showers, for instance.
On the whole he had some good ideas- particularly interesting was his idea about the importance people stablising at their new, lower weight, and fighting the body's urge to regain the fat as quickly as possible.
It has to be said that it does not make a good audio book. Firstly it's much too repeatative, secondly it has a long section of recipes which simply doesn't 'work' as audio.
The reading was good, but the sound was rather thin and a bit headachey when heard through earphones.
In short, buy the book if you want to follow the diet.
