Summary

An audiobook of natural wonders, practical guidance, and life-changing empowerment.

"To live an enchanted life is to pick up the pieces of our bruised and battered psyches, and to offer them the nourishment they long for. It is to be challenged, to be awakened, to be gripped, and shaken to the core by the extraordinary which lies at the heart of the ordinary. Above all, to live an enchanted life is to fall in love with the world all over again."

The enchanted life has nothing to do with fantasy or escapism, or magical thinking: it is founded on a vivid sense of belongingness to a rich and many-layered world. It is creative, intuitive, imaginative. It thrives on work that has heart and meaning. It loves wild things, but returns to an enchanted home and garden. It respects the instinctive knowledge and playfulness of children, and relishes story, poetry, and art.

Taking the inspiration and wisdom that can be derived from myth, fairy tales, and folk culture, this audiobook offers a set of practical and grounded tools for enchanting our lives and the places we live in, giving us a greater sense of meaning and of belonging to the world. An inspiring, beautifully written call to re-engage with the world - giving us the tools for profound and whole-hearted participation in the adventure of life. "I believe that enchantment is an attitude of mind which can be cultivated, a way of approaching the world which anyone can learn to adopt: the enchanted life is possible for everybody."

Super book, better if read by the author

Taken a star off for the unnecessary use of cod accents by the narrator. Sharon Blackie has a lovely voice, as heard on Hagitude, and this great book would be far better read by her

Narrator wasn't for me

what a beautiful book, for me however it was spoiled by the irritating voices given to some of the characters. A poor choice of narrator in my opinion, it just didn't sit with the ethos of the book. such a shame.

I really enjoyed this book

This book is fabulous. It’s well written and well researched. I also thought that the narrator was good, though others might disagree. However, I found her attempt to simulate an American accent a bit annoying.

Brilliant book, let down by the narrator.

Really wish Sharon Blackie had narrated this wonderful book! I felt so irritated by the twee and patronising sound of the voice of this narrator, that I almost abandoned the book halfway through.

A journey into folklore and rituals

I love Sharon’s work. Enchanting and inspiring stories from across the British Isles and beyond.

Read the book, narration ruins the audio version

Awful awful awful narration. Some valuable concepts, the author should have read it herself.

Enchanting...

Beautifully written and performed. I’m a little bit sad it’s finished. I will be purchasing the paperback of this and her other book, ‘If Women Rose Rooted’

I’ve recommended this to my mum and my tribe. I’m sure to read it and refer to it on my path to transformation.

Thank you for writing this Sharon. It has changed my life.

Amazing Content. Another dud narrator

I adore Sharon Blackie’s work, but sadly the narrator is just too twee. I can’t listen to the bits where accents are used. Very frustrating.

Such a shame as I rely on audio books.
