Sefia knows what it means to survive. After her father is brutally murdered, she flees into the wilderness with her aunt Nin, who teaches her to hunt, track, and steal. But when Nin is kidnapped, leaving Sefia completely alone, none of her survival skills can help her discover where Nin's been taken, or if she's even alive. The difference in their uncanny eyes could not be easily discerned. In the rays of the setting sun, both Aravel's and Morlan's eyes appeared gold. In the pale moonlight...yellow. Seemingly the same. Such inscrutable likeness is the way of things with identical twins. But all who knew the two brothers well noted unmistakable differences, peculiarities more experienced than seen.

No you’re crying!
So it’s obviously written for kids but I like the underlying story these books seem to me to have about life. Like it’s a deeper meaning, I won’t say & haven’t in my reviews, in case it seems like some kind of spoiler, but each book to me has it.
I don’t think it’s a typical “moral of the story” type of book so it’s entertaining & not just teaching. Kids will most likely not even see the parallels I see as an adult.
This story ended nicely to me.

Felt too long
Would you consider the audio edition of The End of Time to be better than the print version?
My family has enjoyed the Umber trilogy very much. The only bad thing I have to say about this book is that being the last in the series I felt that the author had too much to wrap up in this book. In places it felt like it was dragging. I feel like the book could have been split into two books and some of the ideas could have been fleshed out more, without it feeling like it was dragging. Other than that it really is a great book, and series that our family loved.
What did you like best about this story?
The interface between our modern world and a fantasy world.
Which character – as performed by Richard Poe – was your favorite?
Hap
