Not up to her usual standard.
I usually really enjoy Sharon Bolton’s books but this one isn’t up to her usual standard. On top of that, I found Fraser Hadfield’s narration torturous. The delivery was flat and one dimensional; a bit like listening to a school child reading aloud. I’ll be avoiding him in the future because, as we all know, the narrator can make or break a story.

Great so far
It’s driving me mad how the narrator keeps mispronouncing Guisborough , pronounced Giz buh ruh . Surprised this wasn’t picked up
But still enjoying listening

An intricate tale.
The shared narration helped a lot with the many characters.
It's a great read, many twists and turns.

Excellent story
I had no idea where this was going to end up! Twists and turns all over the place cleverly kept me guessing until all the ends were tied up- although not how I saw it coming! Loved this story from beginning to end! Best audiobook in a while! Definitely going to look out for more from Sharon Bolton and narration was perfect.

Sharon Bolton is always excellent
An excellent story as always from Sharon Bolton, Eleven out of ten.
BUT oh the pronunciation of Guisborough!!! It isn’t ‘Guise’ as in ‘disguise’, it is ‘giz’ as in ‘giz a job’. How on earth did that slip through? I cringed every time it was mispronounced.

Great as ever
I am a great fan of Sharon’s work but this one is particularly good for me as I come from the north east and it was lovely to hear all the places of my youth being m mentioned.
Like everyone else, the pronunciation of Guisborough was annoying to say the least.

Good but not up to other SJ Bolton novels
Good plot but a bit bog standard unlike her other superior (imo) novels.
Also found the narrators a bit plodding.
