Summary
In the archaeology community, Christopher “Kit” Sawyer’s family is a legacy. And while he may be a historian, not a treasure hunter, he thinks he does a pretty good job of living up to the Sawyer name. He's a book-smart research fanatic and does his best work at his tidy desk. No fedora and whip for him, if you please—a nice cup of coffee and a comfy chair will do. But decoding an ancient relic soon gives him more adventure than he bargained for.
Unwittingly, he unleashes a force he doesn't know how to control. And now he has to reunite the relic with a powerful Aztec God. The trouble with that? Kit doesn’t where to find the Tlaloc’s temple. No one does, in fact. Finding it could be a discovery for the ages. It could also lead to his untimely death. So...yay? But it’s not like he has a choice. So off to the Mexican jungle he goes.
At least he isn’t going alone.
Ethan Stone, former stepbrother and overall pain in the rump, horns in on the expedition. An experienced archaeologist, he's only coming along at their grandfather's request—which annoys Kit to no end. But he knows Ethan is just the right person to get them through the jungle safely. It’s just too bad someone is trying to beat them to the temple. And he’s willing to do anything to get there first.
Ethan thinks Kit is in over his head. Kit is secretly afraid he just may be right. In manners of archaeology...and manners of the heart….

The way I am so absolutely in love with Kit and Ethan should be sturdies. I loved the vibes of this book from the first time I read it, but listening to it made me feel like I was right into an Indiana Jones movie (plus now I know how to pronounce the Aztec names lol). This was my first audiobook ever and it didn’t go badly, I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would tbh. It’s still not my favourite way to read books, but I did enjoy it quite a bit. Plus, the book is really good and I really need a sequel!! (The steamy scenes were a bit awkward to be heard out loud but I guess you’ll get used to it after a bit.)
I was sent a copy by Gay Romance review and this is my honest opinion.

A Captivating Adventure! Fantastic Story & Listen!
This is a fabulous story, and I loved everything about it, from S.E. Harmon’s wonderful writing style to the fabulous characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrator who brings it all to life from the pages to our ears. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it captive the entire time. Christopher “Kit” Sawyer is quirky and full of snark and sass. While the Sawyer name carries weight in the archaeology community, he opts to discover treasures within the pages of books from the safety and comfort of his office. While working to decipher ancient writing on a rare Aztec artifact, he uncovers more than he bargained for, and it is leading him to the unknown in the deep jungles of Mexico. But he does not go alone, his stepbrother, Ethan Stone, who is an experienced archaeologist, invited himself or maybe it was their grandfather who told him to go, either way he was joining him on his journey. OMG, those two together were a riot, and the back-and-forth banter was hilarious, with Kit having an answer to everything. And let’s not mention the chemistry between them, which was smoking hot. Harmon’s descriptive details brings you alongside these characters, experiencing everything they did, basically taking you on their adventure and wow, what an adventure it was, an action-packed, adventure with non-stop drama, some angst, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments and a sweet romance. It is a cleverly plotted story with fantastic world building and character development. S.E, Harmon, thank you for this fabulously entertaining story and the wild ride.
🎧📚🎧 Joel Leslie did an amazing job portraying the characters and did so with a complete understanding of who he was portraying. He absolutely nailed it as Kit, grasping all sides of his personality, including his quirkiness and sass, and he was just as fabulous in Ethan’s role, as well as all the secondary characters too. He set the perfect tone for the story, handled the witty dialogue and back-and-forth banter with ease, landing the snarky humor effortlessly. Joel Leslie is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

The First And Last Adventure Of Kit Sawyer
This is another great book from SE Harmon, she always writes with great humor and gives her characters depth and chemistry. In this book she has departed from her ‘Spooky Business’ series and introduced us to two new characters, Kit Sawyer and Ethan Stone. There is plenty of adventure and and more importantly a great plot in this Indiana Jones type story with Kit and Ethan going into the Mexican Jungle looking for a lost city and temple, there is a curse and of course a baddie looking for lost treasure. It has it all! 10/10
I hope Ms Harmon continues with this series it has much potential.

So Exciting, and Very Romantic!
Oh my gosh, I was incredibly pleased with S.E. Harmon's The First and Last Adventure of Kit Sawyer!
I'll admit, I had pigeonholed Harmon because the only other books of theirs I had read were the first two in the P.I. Guys series. Don't get me wrong, those were both solid four star books for me, they're super exciting and very creative. It is just the tension builds to such a high level it gave me mild anxiety lol. Small doses, but 100% worth it.
The First and Last Adventure of Kit Sawyer is completely different. A cross between an Indiana Jones style adventure romance, with shades of the Ice King from Adventure Time - and those things kept it light and fun for me.
There is some super high octane adventure, and a couple of dasterdly deeds in The First and Last Adventure of Kit Sawyer, but they fit with the arc of the story and work brilliantly. I'm so glad I gave this one a chance, and I highly recommend it!

Just as good in my ears!
The title says it all, though one does hope that Kit will have at least one more adventure :)
This was such a fun read - it had all the elements that I love - (and always get from SE Harmon) - humour; a few, some bittersweet moments; strong, memorable leads; NO angst, (not even with the bad break-up (with an ex) or crush on Ethan)). I enjoyed the heated moments and satisfying HEA.
Kit and Ethan were very likeable, I loved their back and forth; also liked Kit's grandad and the expedition team members. The villains were well written enough that I was really happy they got what they deserved.
Again, Joel Leslie is a great choice for bringing the characters to life. He captures Kit's self-deprecating musings very well, as well as Ethan's equal exasperation with and affection for Kit. All the other characters were distinct, emotions from the principles well performed. A treat to listen to.
Really good, definitely recommend!

Fun MM Indiana Jones-style adventure
I absolutely loved this audiobook. It's like Indiana Jones with gay characters, although the story was much more about the adventure than the romance. Kit Sawyer comes from a long line of adventurous archeologists/treasure hunters, but he was always left at home due to poor health. Instead, his father took his (unfairly attractive) stepbrother, leaving Kit with a lifetime of jealousy and hurt feelings. Of course, Kit denies this, and channels his expertise into being a behind-the-scenes historical expert...until an ill-fated action leaves him possessed by an ancient god and driven to return the god's ancient relics to him. Kit is NOT an adventurer, still it chaps his hide when his grandfather sends his stepbrother Ethan to accompany him and look after him, So the adventure begins, with plenty of snark, jealousy, pettiness, adventure, betrayal (by associates), and slogging through the jungle. There are vengeful gods, rival adventurers, UST, crushes, and lots of denial, It's a lot of fun, and the narration by Joel Leslie captures it all perfectly. I highly recommend this fun adventure story.

MM Jungle Archaeology Expedition
MM Jungle Archaeology expedition
We meet Christopher (Kit) Sawyer, the son and grandson of renowned historians and explorers. But Kit hasn't inherited his family's treasure-hunting skills, mainly due to his health.
Ethan Stone, Kit's stepbrother, is a character that adds complexity to the story. Kit has managed to avoid Ethan and has treated him poorly for 20 years, driven by deep-rooted jealousy, particularly towards Ethan's relationship with Kit's grandfather.
Kit comes across an artefact from Tialoc's temple, and while trying to decode the ancient relic, he unleashes a power from within.
Joel Leslie's narration of the book was spot-on, clear, concise, and quirky. You were whisked off to the middle of the jungle and felt like you were on an expedition with them.
I soon became invested in their lives, mission, and relationship.
I recommend this book, especially the audio version.
