About this listen

Is there one last undiscovered great truth?

A moment zero, a place in time that links all cultures and creeds?

A revelation that will unite us all and change the way we see history forever?

Brilliant but burnt-out English lawyer Ella Blake accepts an apparently simple brief: Investigate the mysterious disappearance of an African American polymath from his room at Cambridge University. The inquiry quickly becomes the greatest challenge of her life - solving the mystery of Genesis.

Facing danger at every turn, can Ella find the answers to the riddles and clues left by the missing genius?

Reunited with her estranged daughter, the inquiry sends them on a quest across the world and through ancient texts.

What is the secret that binds us all?

Who is behind the dark forces that will stop at nothing to prevent the world from knowing the truth?

The Genesis Inquiry is an epic and gripping thriller by the brilliant Olly Jarvis that asks a key question - what can our shared past tell us about humanity’s future?

Quite gripping, poor production

There is one misplaced chapter and several unedited narration errors around chapters 60-70. This is sloppy and should be corrected before any more copies are sold.

The narrator is good, with a variety of voices and he generally adds to the experience.

The story flounders a bit after the reveal and heads into road trip territory. The concept isn't believable and lacks a compelling reason to suspend disbelief.

Overall, the writing is technically good, the main characters are well rounded and even peripheral characters are relatively strong. I particularly liked the main protagonist, whose journey from broken ex-lawyer to driven world saviour is well plotted.

Despite its drawbacks it is nevertheless a gripping story.

Unexpected Tale for an Author of Legal Series

A tiger of a novel with a twist in the tail. Reading this during the current Israeli Palestinian conflict following the events of 5/10/2024 took me on a journey of exploration into the history of the Middle East and Abrahamic religions. Coincidentally I started this novel which lead me further into the journey of discovery around the seat of religion emanating in the Middle East, and the cycle of knowledge and destruction. Unexpected tale following a QC and the events during her employment to uncover the whereabouts of a polymath who goes missing from Cambridge.
Annoying portions of bad editing in the narration, where the narrator has made multiple errors which have not been edited out!

Good story

Apart from some narrator gaffs and a chapter in the wrong place, an excellent read. The unedited narrator in one part made me chuckle! Best get that fixed!! 😊

The Worst Reading I've Heard Since Primary School! Excruciating!

I have never heard anything read so badly by an adult, professional or otherwise! If the narrator didn't have an English accent, you would think that he was just reading it phonetically and had no comprehension of what was actually being read!
