Summary

What would you change if you could start all over again? From Leeanne Slade, the bestselling author of The Rebound and Told You So, and narrated by Daisy Edgar Jones (Normal People) and Sam Claflin (Me Before You), this summer, fall in love with Henry and Grace.

Five Years Earlier

Henry Dunne knows three things: that agreeing to host this raucous house party was a terrible idea, that he absolutely cannot show up to his nursing shift tomorrow with a hangover, and that the beautiful redhead in the corner will be sleeping in his bed tonight.

But what he doesn’t know is that Grace Monroe, the ambitious and fiercely independent chef catering this party, is about to walk a tray of cream cheese appetisers straight into his chest and turn his world upside down. Now, the work-a-holic with a reputation for keeping things casual is planning romantic dates and meeting the family. Utterly smitten, Henry now knows something else: that Grace is the one and that absolutely nothing could come between them. . .

Present Day

Grace Monroe is one day away from thirty, her restaurant has just been declared bankrupt, her beloved grandmother has been rushed to hospital, and she’s now sobbing in a packed train station. The only way life could get worse is having Henry Dunne – the man who showed her what true love and heartbreak feels like – see her like this.

And there he is, wordlessly watching her from the opposite escalator.

A bottle of wine and an erratic wish later, Grace wakes up to one hell of a life glitch: it’s five years earlier, her twenty-fifth birthday, and she’s got picture-perfect memory of the missing years. Grace’s plan is clear: save her doomed career and prevent the worst heartache she’s ever known. All she needs to do is stop history repeating. . .

Easy, right?

Prepare for the rollercoaster!

I'll admit to being a 58 year old white male who gets to listen in the car about 30 mins a day and while and whilst I love a romantic comedy on the big screen, I've never really considered myself a consumer of what I suppose others may call 'Chick Lit'. I am however a BIG fan of time travel fiction and while I had a couple of days gap in between finishing the latest Jodi Taylor and I was waiting for the new release from Richard Osman I thought I'd take a chance on this with the plan being to put it aside when Mr. Osman's book hit my library.

As the headline says, this was a real emotional rollercoaster of a book that has it all. A well crafted and excellently read story with two voices from 2 different points of view and 5 years apart, yet a completer and cohesive narrative that works brilliantly.

Somewhere there's a plot twist that made me go "Ohhhh!" out loud to myself in the car that was one of the best 'I never saw that coming' moments I've ever had in a book.

Congratulations Leeanne Slade, Sam Clafin and Daisy Edgar Jones for a perfect collaboration.

FYI - Richard Osman's new book has been out for over a week and I'm only just getting to it so if Ms. Slade would like to add the the back cover of her next book "I preferred this to Richard Osman's new blockbuster" you have my permission.

Simply lovely!

Really lovely easy, romantic, kind, funny …with a twist of magic! I normally listen to crime so this was a really refreshing listen without drama and scary bits! Highly recommend!!

Gripping! Finished it in two days

Brilliant story, very creative. I was hooked from the beginning. I listen to audiobooks whilst doing art or chores and found myself staring into space just listening because it was so good! Well worth the listen.

Confusing but unique story - well performed!

Such a unique story concept! The time jumps were very confusing at times, and I had lots of questions throughout. However many of these became clear at the end when the final plot twist/point was revealed. I really liked the way Slade chose to tie everything together! It was well written (although perhaps a little rushed - would it've been nice to see more foreshadowing/subtle illusions to the plot throughout? Yes. But also I understand the reasoning not and was pleasantly surprised at the end).

Excellently performed by both narrators, I definitely think this is a story that needs at least 2 narrators, if not more. A few American accent slip ups throughout though - as well as some incorrect grammar from slade! Words such as "choosed" and "keeped" were a little distracting but I'm very conscious of grammatical/spelling errors so this wasn't a huge problem, just not something I expected to see/hear! Although could these be argued as just the character's way of speaking? Absolutely.
