Dr. Dean Roberts
About this listen
Does diet even play a major role in heart disease? That is a question that interests us all. Author Dr. Dean Roberts is on a mission: to uncover the truth and show his listeners that there is another side to this question other than the one that is commonly presented to us.
So-called government and health "authorities" never tire of reminding those of us who live in industrialized countries that heart disease is a major cause of death. They go even further when they tell us that heart disease is eminently preventable, all the while conceding that one's genetic background predetermines numerous factors with influence over each individual's risk of succumbing to heart attack. They tout that diet is a foremost factor among causes of heart disease and that modifying your diet provides a workable means of preventing heart attacks. If only people would do what they are advised - reduce their intake of fats, especially those rich in saturated fatty acids - then the high toll of death and disability from this disease could be readily reduced.
Dr. Dean wholeheartedly disagrees!
In this extensive program, you'll learn the scientific basis on which this advice is based and where it is flawed. Although the many reports of "expert committees" acknowledge that diet may influence the underlying pathology of heart disease in several ways, current dietary guidelines are based mainly on what Dr. Dean calls "the diet heart paradigm".

Some strange pronunciation which changes meaning
As often seems to happen, the narrator has some problems with telling the difference between 'causal' and 'casual', which totally changed the sense of some parts of the book.
Otherwise, he is clear and easy to listen to.
I found the book useful.
