About this listen
Rosa has arrived in London from Poland to look for her younger brother, Mikhail. He is supposed to be staying with their English father, but when she visits the house she finds it's locked up, and there's no sign of either of them.
Stef is running away from her boyfriend, Oliver. Frightened, friendless and far from her family, she needs somewhere to hide. All three find refuge at 11 Bellevue Gardens. Here its owner, Leonie, once herself found sanctuary and now opens her house to others in need.

Not for those who enjoy action packed adventures
Not such good character portrayals as in other books I have read by this author. Quite a quaint little story, with threads of the lives of different characters running through the narrative. The narrator put unusual inflections in her delivery.

Very good read
I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. And fell into step with the characters. They all had a story to tell.

Multiple characters linked by a house
Would you listen to The House on Bellevue Gardens again? Why?
No, once was enough.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The House on Bellevue Gardens?
I can't pick a particular moment, each character has their own back stories and personal crises.
Which character – as performed by Helen Lloyd – was your favourite?
This would probably be Leonie as she is the link between all the other residents of 11 Bellevue Gardens.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Nothing comes to mind which is probably an indication that this wasn't one of my favourite Audible books.
Any additional comments?
I usually enjoy Rachel Hore's books more than this one. Possibly this was because there were too many characters. The link is the house in London but even the house itself didn't win me over, I didn't feel the descriptions gave the house a character of its own.

Disappointing ending
I have read almost all of Rachel Hore's books. I enjoyed this one very much, although it is a slight deviation from her usual format, with more characters taking up the narrative.
However, I was very disappointed when I realised the story had ended. I felt it left me hanging, with quite a few unanswered questions. This is a great shame, as up that that point, I thought it was one of the best stories written by this author.
The performance of the narrator leaves something to be desired, as it is quite wooden in places and the speaker does not always seem to realise the sense of what she is reading so the emphasis is wrong. It is not the worst narration I have heard (the narration of A Week in Paris was simply awful), but it is not as good as some of the other stories by this author.
If it were not for the dissatisfying, unfinished feeling when the book is finished, I would give this 5 stars and would recommend it highly. As it is, I feel somewhat let down and am hesitant to recommend it for that reason.

The book....
was really good until it came to the end, which I found a bit of a let down. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.
