About this listen

Her perfect new start just became her biggest nightmare....

Opening the door to her new home, Libby can’t believe she can afford such a beautiful place. As her new landlord follows her into the bright, open living room, watching her every more, she feels so lucky she spotted the ad online.

"You’re just the tenant I’ve been looking for," the landlord tells her as he drops the keys into her hand. Libby smiles as she unpacks her small suitcase and thinks about the troubled life she has just walked out on.

Days later, Libby is woken by the sound of her neighbors arguing through the wall. As she listens to their angry words, she swears she hears her name mentioned. Why would they be talking about her?

As the weeks pass, Libby can’t help but feel that someone is watching her, and when she hears that the last girl who rented her apartment before her vanished without trace, she starts to double lock her door every night. Then she finds a handwritten message in her apartment telling her she’s in danger, and her new home no longer feels like the safe haven it once was. Did someone from Libby’s past follow her here? And just how safe is she behind closed doors?

If you love gripping psychological thrillers like Gone Girl and Mark Edwards’ Here to Stay, you’ll be blown away by The Houseshare. Addictive, tense, and with an ending you won’t see coming.

The Houseshare is a rework of To Let, which was previously published by the same author.

I always find it hard to write a review as I don't want to give the story away. Carla continues to write novels with gripping story lines, twists and turns even to the last page. All Carla's books are worth a read.

Another fab listen!

I absolutely loved this story, it’s a rework of an older book of Carla’s called To Let. Carla is the queen of murder mystery novels, lots of red herrings, twists and turns. I immediately got invested in the characters and understood exactly how they felt. I listened in 2 days lol

I’ll also be looking for other books narrated by Katie Villa, she’s amazing.

Boring and predictable

Not much really happens, I kept waiting for it to get creepy and interesting, but it never does. Towards the end I couldn’t care less about the fate of the characters. Narration was good

Great Story

I'm a big fan of Carla Kovach's detective series and was pleased to see this psychological thriller by her.
It was a great story with a few twists and turns. Not edge of your seat thrilling but a thoroughly enjoyable listen 👌

Don't bother!

Not nearly as good as some of her previous books unfortunately. Story was really straight forward (you will be able to work out fairly soon 'whodunnit', made far worse by the narrators' high pitched accent for some of the characters. If it is a rework of one of her previous books, that should tell you everything. Very disappointing.

Not for me

Childish, poor narration and well below par for what could have been a good story. I have tried other novels by this author and returned them all - so should never have been tempted to try another. Think I have learned my lesson and will not try again. Reviews were favourable so someone enjoys her books but they do absolutely nothing for me. I like meat with my gravy and this novel has lashings of the latter. Farewell Carla!
