About this listen
Two grumpy bears and a holiday season neither will forget…
Joe
So this sexy silver fox rolls into my small New England town and buys a run-down old house in need of renovation. That’s where I come in. My job is to do some basic repairs, so he can write in peace. Yep, the hotshot is a best-selling author, but that’s not why I recognize Cameron Warren.
No worries, I won’t let a one-night stand make things awkward. I could use the work, but is he seriously asking me to help him buy a Christmas tree too?
No way.
Cameron
I’m a good-natured guy all year long, but I have to admit…. I hate the holidays.
There. I said it.
This season, I’m hiding away on the opposite side of the country in a picturesque village. My family isn’t excited about my decision, and the only way to assure them I’m fine is to deck the darn halls. Or hire someone else to do it.
The handyman might not be the logical choice for an elf, but his grumpy act makes me smile. Which makes me think the holidays might not be so “bah-humbug” this year after all.
The Humbug Holiday is a bisexual, age-gap romance featuring two grumpy bears who find unexpected magic and learn to embrace everyone’s favorite time of year!

Lovely holiday story
What I expected from Lane Hayes - a sweet Christmas novella with a decent side of steam.
What I got? Two grumpy men who hated the holidays softening over the holiday as they fell in love. Also with a great side of steam.
I loved how they came to the realisation together. Their reasons for not lining the holiday were valid and impacted them both.
Loved Aunt Mary and Joe's mom.

sweet holiday romance
Lane Hayes wrote a Christmas short story that entertained me well. When Joe meets Cameron, it looks familiar - only where has he seen him before?
Both Joe and Cameron don't particularly like the Christmas holidays, for which they both have a good reason. It's nice to see them both fall in love with each other and find some Christmas spirit after all. I liked Joe's open nature. This story has a comfortable pace, is hot in between, and also has interesting characters.
Narrator Michael Dean did a good job of getting into the characters and I could easily distinguish his voice for Joe and Cameron. He has a pleasant pace and he portrayed the emotions well.

For those of us who hate the holidays
Joe and Cameron both have reasons for hating the holidays. Justifiable reasons. I have one of my own that I don’t share often, but Christmas Day is always tough for me. Anyway, I liked the premise of the book. And by one of my favorite authors? With one of my favorite narrators at the helm? Sign me up!
I did this book in one sitting which was perfect. I fell in love with Joe and Cameron. Cameron with his hiding out from the world and Joe with his knowing everyone in town and being part of the fabric of the community. I loved how Joe slowly pulled Cameron from his introspective shell. And, in so doing, tackled his own feelings.
This was just a lovely book that came along just at the right time. Oh, and Michael Dean did a fantastic job – happiness all around.

Grumpies find love
Lane Hayes wrote a shortish story about two men who both do not like the Christmas holidays. They figure out they have met once before. With a bit of reaistance' they get rid of their holiday adversity when they find heat and more by the other and find a true home in the little town. 📚 4,5
This was a pleasant and quick listen with a vivid narration by Michael Dean. 🎧 4,5

grumpy silver fox romance x
Lovely silver fox romance by Lane Hayes, The Humbug Holiday, is now on Audible. Narrated by Michael Dean, he successfully hits the spot, and totally brings Cam and Joe to life. The guys, (especially Joe), are adorable and, as usual, Lane writes with both humour and includes some great dialogue. There are some really laugh out loud moments. This is a Christmas story, a heartwarming tale, which can be listened to at any time. It's a fantastic love story (💗), the two guys are hot (🔥) together, but more than anything it's a beautiful romance (👨❤️💋👨).
