About this listen
A well-dressed man killed at a demolition site, at night in a snowstorm.
Izzie Di Sante loves a challenge, and Chance Corcoran’s murder sparks her curiosity. While managing the day-to-day business of the family restaurant, she searches for some connection between the victim and the site of the future Elite Townhomes. A coworker of the victim disappears, the foreperson of the construction site is injured, and someone’s after Izzie. As her sister, Chloe, prepares for an Easter buffet like none other, Izzie needs to put the pieces together before it’s too late.

Scratch a itch with a good book and mystery
I really enjoyed this book. I normally find that if a mystery is set in a cafe/ restaurant/ bakery that even though I enjoy the book I either get fed up with the heroine never working there or bogged down with to much information on food or even recipes. This was not the case with this story and in fact the author got the balance spot on, just enough cooking drama and a behind the scenes look at running a restaurant, even better no recipes that I am never going to cook. I liked the characters, especially Izzie who is a great main character. The investigative reporter works well with the restaurant business and gives her a good reason to look into the murder, besides just being nosy. The mystery was interesting and moved along quickly. I never did guess who the killer was. A good series and with this only being book two I hope there is a lot more to come.
Izzie as a investigative reporter is looking for her best big story despite helping to plan the Easter celebrations in her family run restaurant. The death of a man in a business suit found at a construction site after dark in a snow storm catches her attention. The case is quickly going cold with the police, until Izzie's questions has somebody breaking in to her restaurant, threatening her and following her. Can she uncover the killer? And the connection between the dead man and the building site, especially when the Forman or the site ends up in hospital and a work colleague goes missing.
I liked the narrator. She does a good job of giving each character a different voice making the story come alive.

Great addition to the series
I do love a Christa Nardi mystery and as always the narrator suits the main character. What I loved about this one as the was a real reason why Izzie was investigating the story being a budding investigative journalist. There was a great mix of restaurant and crime neither one was overpowering. I am going to have to research this Easter pie now.
I was given a free copy by the author but the review is entirely my own.
