Summary

The No. 1 Sunday Times bestseller!

Watch Will Trent on Disney+!

It begins with an abduction.

The routine of a family shopping trip is shattered when Michelle Spivey is snatched as she leaves the mall with her young daughter. The police search for her, her partner pleads for her release, but in the end…they find nothing. It’s as if she disappeared into thin air.

A month later, on a sleepy Sunday afternoon,

medical examiner Sara Linton is at lunch with her boyfriend Will Trent, an agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. But the serenity of the summer’s day is broken by the wail of sirens.

Sara and Will are trained to help in an emergency.

Their jobs – their vocations – mean that they run towards a crisis, not away from it. But on this one terrible day that instinct betrays them both. Within hours the situation has spiralled out of control; Sara is taken prisoner; Will is forced undercover. And the fallout will lead them into the Appalachian mountains, to the terrible truth about what really happened to Michelle, and to a remote compound where a radical group has murder in mind…

As good as it gets

I have been a fan of Karin Slaughter since her first book and this one absolutely didn’t disappoint. Really good story, believable characters and great elements of suspense. Must say the reader was excellent also.

Arghhh narrator is awful!

I knew this narrator from another book that I just couldnt finish but had no choice with this new book as its part of a series I am reading. Apart from the stupid cartoony voices she uses the worst thing was going from a whisper to her shouting at the top of her voice....so glad I dont have a weak heart.....does she not understand what Audible reading is about? Such a shame as when she is narrating normally, she has a very listenable voice. Anyway, the book was fab and typical Karin Slaughter. On the edge of my seat throughout and you dont get to this book number 9 without being totally invested in the lives of Will, Sarah, Amanda and Faith. Its a harrowing story....fantastic. Just dont use this narrator ever again although I know I have to put up with her for the next book :(

Further or father

Yet again another narrator who doesn't understand the English language. Whoever listens to the narration prior to publication should have picked up on this unless he or she also has an inadequate knowledge of English. If I was looking further into something I would not need my father to help. Father down the road implies that her dad is down the road.

Alright

I found this book an interesting read, I’m loving the evolution for the main characters and getting to know there stories a bit more. The overall story was okay. And then narration was well done.

Poor Narration

The story was another good installment of Will and Sarah. What spoilt it for me was poor narration.
