Based on the No 1 hit podcast 'The Lazarus Heist'
Meet the Lazarus Group, a shadowy cabal of hackers accused of working on behalf of the North Korean state. It's claimed that they form one of the most dangerous criminal enterprises on the planet, having stolen more than $1bn in an international crime spree. Their targets allegedly include central banks, Hollywood film studios and even the British National Health Service. North Korea denies the allegations, saying the accusations are American attempts to tarnish its image.
In this staggering, global investigation, award-winning journalist Geoff White examines how the hackers have harnessed cutting-edge technology to launch a decade-long campaign of brazen and merciless raids on its richer, more powerful adversaries. It's not just money they're after. The Lazarus Group's tactics have been used to threaten democracies, gag North Korea's critics and destabilize global peace.
From the bustling streets of Dhaka, to the glamorous studios of Hollywood, to the glittering casinos of Macau and the secretive dynastic court of Pyongyang, this shocking story uncovers the secret world of the Lazarus Group, their victims and the people who have tried—and ultimately, so far failed—to stop them.

this book is fantastic - already on my 2nd listen
this book is wonderfully written and the authors passion for the topic comes across in the delivery. The narrative is engaging and the explanation of complex cyber principles are well done which makes the more technical elements of the story very accessible to those ( like me ) with only a surface level of knowledge.

Very informative
This starts with an account of the Sony Pictures hack, then broadens its focus to take in everything about what North Korea may be doing in the way of organised crime - which is frighteningly large. You won't be able to predict where it goes next, but it's good to go along for the ride!

Excellent content let down by authors narration
Really interesting and well researched and explained book. Fascinating how North Korea are using cyber criminal activity to get around sanctions.
This book was sadly let down by the authors narrating style - I can only describe it as a sort of slightly higher pitch on one word pretty much in the middle of each sentence and it really got annoying. It's a sort of BBC-style narration. I found myself listening out for it, knowing it would come every sentence...and it did come every sentence. Completely distracted me at times.
Whoever produced the audiobook should have pulled him up on this and told him to stop doing it. It's a shame because otherwise, this was an excellent book.

Excellent
Highly recommended. The book is very well researched and also very well written. Though the book is sufficiently technical it is accesible to the non expert on cybersecurity and a riveting read.
