Lovely story. First book by Katherine Hughes I have read

I will be reading more by this author. Beautifully written. perfectly narrated. I listen to a lot of audio books and the narrator is so import it can make or brake a book. Her accents were were well don’t and the transition between were seamless.

My type of book

If you could sum up The Letter in three words, what would they be?

Engaging & sad yet hopeful

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Letter?

The scene in the kitchen...I don't want to spoil it by giving anything away!

Have you listened to any of Rachel Atkins’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes...The Stranger in my Home, The Secret & The Quality of Silence. It is just as good as these books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No because I found I wanted to shake Tina out of her complacency at times and then when she did appear to be stronger and then faltered again, I found that very frustrating. I couldn't understand why she acted as she acted at times and so that annoyed me!

Any additional comments?

Recommended if you like parallel stories which I do...a lot!

Wonderful story & beautifully narrated.

This was such a great story that I listened to it constantly whenever I could. The narrator brought the characters to life, enhancing the authors words beautifully. Loved it.

A story of courage and hope, love and friendship

This book was an unexpected pleasure. Some it is hard reading as the author touches on difficult issues like alcoholism, domestic violence and the what happened to unwed mothers in Catholic Ireland. The description of rural Ireland is beautiful and touching. Despite all the difficulties the main characters experience there is hope, love and beauty. I found tears on my face many times during the course of this book. Its a wonderful moving story and one I found particularly relevant living in rural Ireland myself.

would make a good movie?

great narrator, enjoyed the book. few twists which were good and nice to jump eras a few times. neatly knits together in last parts of the book but some of the Irish references are a bit clichéd and there's a big focus on a happy end which is not so convincing!
