Summary
Man. Lion. Warrior.
Enigmatic superhero Lionheart was always cut from a different cloth than his teammates on Just Cause, so when he learns his old kung fu teacher, Master Chou, is dying, he doesn't hesitate to travel halfway around the world to pay his final respects to the man who saved his life, and set him off upon his heroic journey. Upon arrival, he discovers his old master has been murdered, and quickly becomes embroiled in a battle for the honor of his master's Cherrywood School against one of the most dangerous heroin cartels in Hong Kong: the Five Deadly Serpents. His only allies are Master Chou's two children: Qiao, the seething warrior determined to avenge his father's death, and Lihua, the lovely and dangerous fighter who steals the lion's heart.
They're outnumbered, outgunned, and the Five Deadly Serpents have numerous parahumans within their ranks. Lionheart, Qiao, and Lihua only have their training, their wits, and each other. Only time and blood will tell if the three warriors can save the Cherrywood School from the many-headed serpent of the Triad.

Different setting and focus for solo adventure
While familiarity with the Just Cause series will give some background benefits to this book, it is very much a solo adventure rather than part of the main storyline as it focuses on a hero from an earlier incarnation of the team, Lionheart, as we journey with him to Hong Kong as he goes to visit his dying Kung Fu master.
Once he gets there, we end up with an interesting 'Just Cause' take on a martial arts movie, with the hero having a few allies (the children of Master Chou) as he seeks to bring those responsible for his master's death to justice and at the same time to save his school.
The narrator does a good job with this book, keeping the tones distinctive for the relevant characters, while avoiding the potential trap of becoming a parody or falling onto stereotypical accents too much.
Overall, an interesting listen that helps to add some more depth to the overall just cause universe.

Hear the lion roar
I enjoyed this side adventure in the Just Cause series. We have met or heard about the brave and courageous Lionheart in a number of the books and in this one the author has seen fit to make him the main character. Having just meet the new super hero team member of Mustang Sally in the previous book it was interesting for this story to go back to how her parent's met. . I did enjoy it but missed the rest of his teams that we know so well because he visit alone. The story is still action packed, just in a totally different setting and situation. When I hear the name Lionheart I think of the lion in the care bear cartoon (sorry showing my age here) but this Lionheart is definitely not cute and cuddly, especially if you are a bad guy but unlike some of the other super hero's we have met he is also not invincible, making him more like able some how. With this hero looking so different from his human team mates the author also covers the fact that it is okay to be different. Just a great all round kung fu adventure with a twist of the parahuman like only this author can deliver.
When lionheart's old kung fu teacher is poisoned and his daughter turns up at the Just Cause headquarters seeking him. He drops everything to be by his side. Lionheart owes everything to Master Chou and when he learns that a deadly gang of Triad's calling themselves the Five Deadly Serpents are trying to take his school away from his son and daughter and are most probably responsible for the poisoning of his old friend he goes on a war path to put an end to it. Lionheart is a super hero but with our his Just Cause team mates to back him up has he met his match? Or can be cut the head off the serpent?
I liked the narrator. She had to speak a lot of Japanese and to this untrained hear it sounded good, as well as give voice to a lot of characters.
