About this listen
Declan:
As a founding member of The Vers, a queer podcast I host with my three best friends, I’m "The Loner"—quieter than the others, and except for them, I don’t let myself get too close to people. Most of them just let you down anyway, or maybe it’s just that something about me chases people away.
Infrequent no-strings-attached hookups have always worked for me. Who knew my favorite one would become such a popular movie star? But Sebastian Cole and I made it work, meeting up whenever he was in Santa Monica and in the mood—until he called it off when he got a serious boyfriend. A boyfriend he later found in bed with another man.
Now, Sebastian is back in California, taking a break from acting. He needs a friend, and for whatever reason, he decides that should be me. We’ve known each other intimately for years, and yet, we’ve never spent much time together with our clothes on. When he starts taking me places, it feels suspiciously like dates...and surprisingly, I like it.
Despite our differences, Sebastian’s lonely like me. The more we hang out, the more I realize I’ll never get enough of him.
A loner dating a celebrity doesn’t make much sense. I don’t know how to be someone’s boyfriend, let alone be in the public eye. But to call him mine, I’ll need to leave the past behind and finally allow myself to move forward with him.
The Loner is an opposites-attract romance about a movie star rethinking his career and a bar owner/podcast host who isn’t fond of most people. Expect Southern California sun, swoon, found family, and once-in-a-lifetime friendships.

Love it!!!
The Loner was truly fabulous!!! Riley Hart writing is amazing, her books are all about romance and a little angst but at the end the HEA between their MC’s is the most satisfying! I swoon with every romantic moment between Declan and Sebastian. Declan and his friends are amazing, they are his family and you can feel the bond between and the love then have for each other. Sebastian has always feel something for Declan but they weren’t ready for things to change when they meet. But fate brings them together again and things are about to change. This is wonderful to read, since then first meet and how they meet and meet again until they finally have a real friendship. This was the enough acts to get going but at the end your would have a smile on your face! I love Declan dirty mouth, so hot!!! Sean Crisden did a good job narrating this book!

Great story
M/M
Friends to lovers
Slow burn
Found family
Hurt/comfort
Riley does it again. I absolutely couldn't put this book down from start to finish. These 2 main characters were both absolutely wonderful. They had off the charts chemistry in and out of the bedroom. This was such a sweet story that had no angst. Just some drama from side characters on both sides to keep things interesting. For me this book had the most perfect relationship development as they went from hookup to friends with benefits to finally together in a slow burn but with some steam along the way. Both characters have their past dramas so it is that feel-good hurt/comfort trope that I absolutely love. This book completely met all my expectations. I would absolutely recommend it.
The wold building was wonderful in this book as well. These were such a great group of friends. I absolutely can't wait for book 2. The bread crumbs we were given into Parker and Elliottes relationship were so intriguing. I am definitely looking forward to their story.
I'm not a fan of this narrator. He is great at keeping a good pace and expressing all the emotions wonderfully, I'm just not fond of the sound of his voice. As well he sounded double the characters age.
