Ex-boxer, hard drinker, in a business that trades mostly in cash and favors: McGill's an old-school P.I. working a city that's gotten fancy all around him. Mosley at his best
Compelling interwoven threads of stories coming together around LT. All the characters are very fully developed and when he goes down at tangent to fill in depth of a character you’re never sorry you heard it. The description of the inner workings of the main character are so solid and well described that sometimes it feels like you’re in his shoes. Super listening to this book.

An enjoyable listen
This was a great read. I love the Easy Rawlins series more (perhaps because it is set further in the past) but this is an entertaining read and I would recommend it. Plot is decent, characters are well formed. Also, the narrator is very skilful at his job!

Excellent, engrossing stoty
Really enjoyable. The narration was superb! Lots of interesting characters to wrap your head around, so you need to pay attention.

Kept me riveted!
Brilliant author, terrific narrator, and an intriguing array of characters. I love how Mosley spices up the narrative with little splashes of back story and how he succeeds in consistently evoking the spirit of place and time relevant to the story.
A nod of gratitude to the Graham Norton Book Club for reminding me what a wonderful writer Mosley is.
