Summary

A BBC Radio 4 full cast dramatisation of the first adventure in C. S. Lewis' classic Narnia series.

Polly Plummer and her next-door neighbour, Digory, are exploring one wet afternoon when the accidental discovery of some magic rings sends them off on the most exciting and dangerous journey of their lives. They fall through magic pools to the ruined city of Charn where Digory awakens the terrifying figure of Jadis, the last Queen. But with true evil comes true goodness as the children discover when they come face to face with the mighty lion Aslan.

still good more than 10 years later

A Great audio book for children (and adults!!) i had this as a child on cassette, and bought it again as a 21 year old. As with all radio 4 productions the dramatisation is faultless. In my opinion this is a great first audio book, as well as the best first C.S Lewis. the storyline is fantastic, brilliant dialogue too.

It was OK.. Enjoyed it most of the time.

It's a nice story. A bit too close to Christianity. A bit flat. Not as exciting as other stories.

Clear good storytelling

My daughter found this very easy to follow and enjoyed it though I thought the adult actors were overdoing it in places with a few shell voices..

Dreadful. Don't bother.

Awful. Typical theatrical overacting. Nerve grating. Waste of time & money. Director needed a magician.

Bad audio levels...

Amazon story and the bit about creation will make you go WOW! But the audio levels are inconsistent as if the audio editor was drunk at the time!

Good story. Sound levels go from very loud to quue

Loved the book so had high expectations. Uncle Andrews voice over is a little annoying. The music was also very loud in comparison to the story voices.

As a whole I enjoyed the story and it's great for kids
