The six of us arrived on that beautiful Greek island dreaming of sun-drenched beaches and blood-orange sunsets, ready to lose ourselves in the wild freedom of a weekend away with friends. On the first night, we swam under a blanket of stars. On the second night, the games began on our clifftop terrace. On the third night, the idyll cracked, secrets and lies whispering on the breeze. And by the final night, there was a body on the rocks below.

Summary
I was the girl who survived the Nothing Man. Now I am the woman who is going to catch him....
You've just read the opening lines of The Nothing Man, the true-crime memoir Eve Black has written about her obsessive search for the man who killed her family nearly two decades ago.
Supermarket security guard Jim Doyle is reading it too, and with each turn of the page his rage grows. Because Jim was - is - the Nothing Man.
The more Jim reads, the more he realises how dangerously close Eve is getting to the truth. He knows she won't give up until she finds him. He has no choice but to stop her first....

Awful female narration which ruined a good book
A question (not really)....why chose someone who has a sing-a-along voice to narrate a murder mystery?! I reaeaaaally struggled to listen to the story while her voice was going up and down all the time, I thought of returning the book but the story does get you hooked from the start. I definitely will be looking for more of Catherine R Howards books.

No idea if the story is any good because the female narrator is dreadful. I have never dropped off as many times while listening to a book. The up and down list of her voice is soporific. Gave up after a while.

The Narrator is just appaling
This is the first ever book on Audible that I have listened to and simply couldn't proceed despite numerous attempts over several months. The narrator unfortunately has the most infuriating cadence and flow to her story telling, where she places intonation is misplaced in almost every sentence. Her narration will no doubt greatly affect the ratings of this book. She is worse than bad .. I am so sorry to give this review but it cannot be ignored.

Weird, annoying narration of a good book
I have to abandon this audio book a few chapters in even though the story and writing is terrific. The problem is the narration. The narrator uses a strange intonation pattern that is really distracting. It's a pity the publishers or audio producer didn't say something during the recording process. A really great book has been ruined in audio form.

Kept me hooked!
I really enjoyed this book, however I do agree with one of the previous reviewers as to why the female narrative was done in a sing song voice it didn’t help. However despite that I would recommend it as it’s a really interesting concept for a storyline and well written. It draws you in from the start.

Blew me away!
This book blew me away! The Nothing Man is a book within a book. As a 12 year old Eve Black survived an attack by the Nothing Man in which her parents and sister all died. Now an adult she decides to write a book in the hope that someone's memory might be jogged and the Nothing Man might finally be caught.
We get to read Eve's book, along with her thoughts, and her narrative alternates with that of the Nothing Man, whose identity is revealed right at the start. The way the story unfolds is pure genius. I was totally hooked, so far on the edge of my seat that I almost fell off, and couldn't stop listening. The characters were all memorable with realistic back stories.
Catherine Ryan Howard is a superb story teller and I can't wait to read her back catalogue.
The two narrators did an excellent job, and their voices were perfect for the characters they portrayed so well, This book will definitely be in my top ten books read this year!
