About this listen

The latest and most bitterly contested battle in the culture war is the controversy over Darwin and intelligent design. But much of what you've heard about it is wrong. Jonathan Wells, a battle-hardened veteran with doctorates in biology and theology, sets the record straight.

In clear, non-technical language, he explains who is fighting whom, the root of the conflict, and the evidence for and against Darwinism and intelligent design. He also explains what is ultimately at stake for liberals and conservatives, Christians and non-Christians, educators, policymakers, and scientists.

Jonathan Wells definetly biased

I am sorry to say it, but Wells has an agenda, and it's not pro-science. He may be intelligent and intellectually capable of better things, but I cannot believe that he is honest. He means to push Intelligent Design (aka Creationism) as a genuine alternative to real science in schools. Calling evolution "Darwinism" in the title was no mistake, he really means to diminish what has stood the test of time is continuously used to make predictions in biology and drive medical research, the list goes on and on.

My advice is: don't put time into this book without at least knowing what Jonathan Wells is about. Google his name and his association with ID and Ben Stein's movie Expelled. DON'T read this book for an honest comparison between evolution and ID.

interesting

Simply picks up the flaws in Darwins theory.
intelligent design seems unquestionable, you don't have to be religious to come to that conclusion... bit if not God then who?

Religion versus science

Here is another book that promotes the religious argument for intelligent design and ignores or misrepresents facts about evolution. Not worth the effort.

An excellent overview of the topic

It covers most if not all the key elements of this debate and by the end you will have a good grounding to move on in this debate.

Ouch! My stroke was less damaging to my brain..

I have read (listened) to many Politically Incorrect titles and found myself agreeing with them. Then I thought I'd give this a go.
I am now questioning my beliefs, but only the beliefs I had in agreement with the other titles.

If this title was so willing to misrepresent ( I cannot believe anyone in academia can be ignorant of their misunderstanding to this degree) facts in order to push their bias, maybe the other titles I enjoyed and agreed with are also just confirming their bias.

Even a layman in biology or evolutionary study will be scratching their heads at the absurdity of the arguments.

One of my favorites, summarised for brevity..
'Isn't it weird how all fossils found belong to a species and are not inbetween species'

Couldn't help myself but to shout back 'well of course that's true, because if they find a fossil that appeared to be inbetween two species, what they've actually done is find a new bloody species, ya moron!'

He knows this..he MUST know this...

Anyway, don't waste your time with this.. unless you already believe everything in the universe is made by design ...then you'll love it
