تتناول رواية "ثمن العفة" عدداً كبيراً من السلبيات التي تشوب المجتمع المصري، مع التركيز على معاناة المرأة من خلال بطلة العمل، أو (مس أمل) التي عكف والدها قبل رحيله على تربيتها بطريقة مُختلفة عن قريناتها من الفتيات أملاً في تحقيق حياة أفضل لها، لكن سرعان ما تغيَّر مجرى حياتها واصطدمت بجريمة أصبحت هي محور أحداث الرواية...

ولا تخلو أحداث الرواية من رسائل تربوية قوية في قالب بوليسي مُشوق وسرد متماسك وتسلسل رائع.
