Love this narrator

This was a sweet shifter story with a matchmaking King. The tale between a bear prince shifter and a coyote shifter has an almost fairy tale quality with a royal quest, mysterious dreams, and a creepy landscape.
I'd read this as a book but the narrator was excellent and added another dimension to the story.

Delightfully Heartwarming and Entertaining

This is the second book in this series, and while the two main characters find their HEA, there is a storyline in the background that continues from book one. It is because of this, I wouldn't recommend reading this as a stand alone. 🐻 🪚 🐿

Prince Bernd has been mourning the loss of his father for quite a while. He’s shut himself off from everything. When the time comes for his quest, he finds his companion/guide for the trip isn’t a bear shifter, or even magical, but we will learn just how important Saer will become to him by the end of their dangerous journey. 🐻 🪚 🐿

This story is laced with humor, sadness, love, and happiness. It is well written and has a kingdom full of wonderful characters. I loved Bernd and Saer. Their ship name is either Baer or Saend. I oddly find those funny. Anyways....this story was delightful, and I found myself grinning several times.

Greg Boudreaux continues to do a wonderful job bringing this series to life. His voices for our couple were perfection. 🐻 🪚 🐿

Great addition

Another great addition to the series by Charlie Cochet. Very interesting and enjoyable story. Greg Boudreaux did a super job with the narration.

Great story and narrator

This is book #2 in the Paranormal Princes series. I read this series backwards - Book 3 then 2 then 1 (don’t ask lol) and I was able to follow along fine and enjoy them fully. However, I recommend reading them in order as intended because there is a storyline threaded through the background of the three books even though each individual book has a different couple and it’s own HEA. Prince Bernd and Saer are terrific together in this one, and while the story has romance, it also has some angst. Greg Boudreaux does an excellent job as usual. He was spot on with his voicing of the two MCs. I highly recommend this whole series.

Grieving prince on a journey

Prince Bernd, a bear shifter, lost his beloved father years ago and has never really recovered. He does his best for his mother and younger siblings, but his heart isn’t in it. Then one day King Alarick pays him a visit. The King of all Shifters has a quest for Bernd to partake in. One doesn’t refuse the king and so Bernd agrees to the trip. He is assigned Saer to accompany him. Okay, so it’s one thing to be forced to journey beyond the walls of his home, it’s quite another to have a coyote shifter foisted upon him.

Saer comes from his own story of sorrow. He loved the wrong man and was banished from his own kingdom. His attraction to Bernd has kept him around as he’s crushed on the man. And tried to alleviate the suffering, although Bernd knows nothing about it. Bernd, for his part, embarks upon the journey thinking he has to track down a bunch of magical ingredients but having no idea the purpose of the trip. It soon becomes apparent he has been neglectful of those within his realm and he realizes he can no longer continue mired in grief, but needs to find a way to live with loss.

When the men are threatened on Espen Mountain, Bernd comes face-to-face with his fears – including the fear of losing someone he cares about.

This was an interesting story and I liked the psychological underpinnings of loss. How does one move forward? After having read the first story, I knew there had to be a good reason Alarick was demanding Bernd attend this quest – and I was right. It just wasn’t something I might have predicted.

And when Saer has the opportunity to return home, he also has to decide what is most important in his life. And for the life of me, I didn’t get the Carpenter thing but it was eventually explained.

This series is narrated by Greg Boudreaux and I think he does a good job. I enjoyed this book even more than the first and I can’t wait for the last one.

An adventurous romance!

Bernd and Saer were a bit of an unlikely pairing, but as their quest progressed I found myself completely enamoured by their unexpected compatibility. For such a short novella, Bernd's story tackled some pretty heavy issues. The trauma from Bernd's past was significant, and as much as this was a romance, it was also a journey of healing for him. It made my heart so happy to see Bernd experience the joy of nature again after being secluded for so long. Saer's bright optimism and determination went a long way towards easing Baer's worries, and I loved watching the two of them interact. As Bernd and Saer's relationship deepened from friends to lovers, their chemistry in bed was delightfully steamy. By the time their quest reached its most dangerous section, I was completely convinced of their love and desperate to see the two of them make it back in one piece. Greg's narration was excellent throughout this story, and I really loved the way he interpreted the action-packed moments. After being teased for the past two stories, I'm dying to see Jean and Alarick get their own adventure.

The Prince and His Captivating Carpenter is book 2 in the Paranormal Princes series and technically it can be read as a standalone, although I really suggest reading, or better yet, listening to book 1 first to get a better understanding of the series. Plus, we meet King Alarick and his valet, Jean, there, and they're a hoot, so you don't want to miss out on that. 

Prince Bernd is lost in his grief after losing his father and between that and fear, he hasn't been really living. When King Alarick gives him a quest that will save his heart and pairs him with a coyote shifter, he's not quite sure what to think but is obligated to agree to the challenge. Saer was perfect for him, sweet and resourceful, he helps Bernd see that there's more to life than his loss and face some hard truths about his ambassadors. 

This was the only book I hadn't read prior to listening to it and I loved it! While these are novellas/short audiobooks, they're still fun, fast-paced, and fully developed with an engaging plotline and captivating characters. Greg Boudreaux is amazing, from his voices to his flawless performance, you simply can't go wrong with him. Very recommendable!

Squirrel!

Although I didn't enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed the first when I first read the book, I have to say that Greg Boudreaux's narration made the story like a thousand percent better. From the beginning when King Alarick (sp?) was stalking his mortal enemy in his lion form I was laughing, and I laughed all the way through even though some of it was emotional and difficult to listen to from an emotional standpoint. This audiobook is just what I needed to unwind from extremely stressful semester in grad school, and I highly recommend it to anybody who's looking for something that is both light and fun with a lot of heart. This is the second book in the series and I would recommend listening to the first before beginning this book.

A most wonderful second book in the series

A fabulous second book in the Paranormal Princes series from Charlie Cochet. It's filled with easily lovable characters, not just our MC's but smaller roles as well including Bernd's younger twin brothers and sister.
My heart instantly went out to Bernd as he's still dealing with the grief of losing his father but has become somewhat lost to it and his focus isn't as much as it should be on ruling over his country. Saer brings a good balance of positivity to help raise him up and assist through the task that Bernd has been given by the King of all shifters.
They are quick to develop feelings but it feels natural in the setting of the story and plot of the book. It flows well with the action and drama that they face as they journey through the kingdom and face both natural and unnatural opposition. Their attraction quickly ignites and is built in nicely with the story, bringing the two together in tense moments.
King Alaric is so fun to read and his relationship with his assistant, Jean, has to be delved into much deeper, there's definitely an underlying something between the two. We're left with a tantalising epilogue which leaves me needing the next book straight away!
Of course, my only gripe is that I wish it was longer but Charlie has given the reader yet another wonderful shifter romance, something she excels and and though it's short, I felt that we really get to know the characters and the relationship that they develop.
Definitely a recommended read for this book and the series. Excited for book three!
Greg has again brought this amazing shifter world to life and I just fell into the narration from the start. All of the characters are full of life and emotion as they go through their quest, as well as the entertaining tones of King Alaric and Jean.
