Summary

A hilarious, feel-good adventure from the internationally bestselling author of The Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared

Sweden, late summer of 2011. Self-taught astrophysicist Petra has calculated that the atmosphere will collapse on the 21st of September that year, around 21.20 to be more precise, bringing about the end of times.

Armed with this terrible knowledge, Petra meets Johan, a domesday prophet, and Agnes, a widow of 75 who has made bank living a double life on social media as a young influencer. Together, the trio race through Europe as they plan to make the most out of the time they have left, in more ways than one.

But of course, things rarely go to plan, even the end of the world…

Whacky and warm

As usual the author manages to take a rather plain individual and along with random people he meets, go on a transcontinental journey full of coincidence and mishap. If you have any interest in the world, following Johan across the globe is a worthy listen.

Amusing as usual

You can never go wrong with Jonas Jonassons books funny, quirky with political humour.

Main characters are loveable, story takes you through many countries meeting political figures as normal.

Loads of fun!

Another lively mix of real world history and absolutely glorious nonsense. If you love Jonasson’s other books you won’t be disappointed. Peter Kenny does a marvellous job of narrating as always!

Delightful and creative.

This is the third or fourth Jonas Jonasson book I have read (or listened to). He writes in a consistent style which I personally really enjoy. How he manages to put together the words that make the seemingly impossible scenarios actually entirely possible is genius. Really enjoyed reading this story (even though I actually listened to it) and found the characters in it were, on the one hand really likeable and the other, horrible. I laughed often.

So good!

Master of invention and unexpected! I have listened to several other of Jonas’ books and think this is probably the best. I hope there are more. This is a very engaging hilarious and well imagined story whose characters grow with the plot. A book I will listen to again for sure. The lighthearted narration really adds to the experience. All soooo good.

Brilliant book !

The story and the characters came to life through the actor Peter Kenny, who through his vast array of voices, gave the book by Jonas Jonasson that bit of spice.
The story keeps you laughing and enthralled with the characters moving from one scene to another, but all beautifully intertwined. A must read for anyone wanting a smile or two to start their day!
