Summary

Now airing as the three-part documentary series The Other Mrs Jordan on ITVX.

In 2006, Mary Turner Thomson’s world shattered when she discovered her husband Will was a bigamist, con man and convicted sex offender. Unbeknownst to her, this would be the start of a bold new chapter in her life, fighting to protect other women from his heartless gaslighting campaigns—and putting a stop to his endless deception.

Mary thought her story would end with the revelation that Will in fact had several families—and numerous children. But when she discovered that he had continued to prey on new victims, she vowed to turn his betrayal into a force for good. On her mission to protect these women and others, Mary also learned more about the psychopathy behind Will’s duplicitous behaviour.

Teaming up with his newest fiancée in the US, Mary attempts to put an end to Will’s devastating activities. But will she and her fellow victims succeed in their ultimate goal: to bring down Will Jordan forever?

Mary Turner Thomson began telling her story in her first book, The Bigamist. Now, in The Psychopath, she delves deeper into Will's betrayal, telling an entirely new story of how she moved on, and helped others do the same.

Do not waste your time

This is a book about the fact that the author wrote a book. It’s repetitive, badly written and boring. I thought I would be able to learn something from this book, instead I’m annoyed I wasted a credit on this rubbish.

I guess it was my fault. I hoped it was True Crime

I gave this book 2.5 hours and had to give up.

I dont understand why the book is called 'The Psychopath. Its not about a psychopath. It's about the life of a victim of a psychopath. It's about how she brought her children up, how she was on the Jeremy Kyle programme, how she wrote her own book and all sorts of other random consequences of having been 'married' to this guy...

Relatable, honest

I throughly enjoyed the honesty, the openness and found this addictive. I unfortunately recognised a lot of the descriptions…
However that aside, I enjoyed every second of being able to look at this type of person from another’s eyes.
Highly recommend

Thank you Mary !

I have been through a similar situation but your book helped me realise that I was most probably faced with a psychopath. I wish UK laws were set out differently so women were better protected. Hearing about the ways the justice system let you down so deeply, will further discourage other women to try and fight for their rights. I hope your book grows and I hope it helps change the laws. This cannot continue to happen. The psychopath I regretfully knew is still out there ruining lives and there’s nothing that can be done to stop them. I hope and pray this can all change one day, women need to be protected and loved.

Wow!

The truth sets you free, and this book is certainly truthful. It's written in natural sounding language , not contrived nor sensational. I got so much from it that I instantly felt better, taller and more at ease with who I am. I share so many experiences with the author. Things I've been ashamed and afraid of, but not any more . My eyes have been opened to how I've been manipulated and abused as well and maybe one day I'll share my story. We are NOT to blame for what wicked people do.

Grandiose sense of self score for the author please

The Bigamist was excellent. This one is a bit “I’m so wise, look at my wisdom. I’m so brave, look at my bravery. I’m so inspirational, look who’ve I’ve inspired.” All a bit of a boring look at me love fest unfortunately.

Fascinating!

I have learnt so much from this book, Mary you are truly amazing and been through so much in your life yet give hope you can get through the other side. I can start to recognise toxic behaviour and understand the why, truly a revelation gem of a book. I wish you and your family a happy ending

Good but

Good but often not enough about the case and more about the author and her endless struggle to justify her past mistakes, constantly talking about how successful and great she is - gets a bit much after a while! Makes you wonder if she too has a narcissism issue and this book is her way to get over being taken for a fool.

Wow

What a gripping heartbreaking and uplifting story! A remarkable Woman’s fight to help other victims of a truly disturbed man! Whilst getting her own life back on track well worth reading.

Not great

The first red flag was the author describing a "downs syndrome child" rather than CHILD WITH DOWNS SYNDROME. Then, the transcript of the spy camera footage, we know who is who!!!! You don't need to say the name every single time, severely irritating. I was really in to this at first but the more it went on the more I feel it's just not a book in its own right, just a brag about the previous book and some repetitive stories. Lost interest. Rubbish.
