Auguste Dupin and his erudite Parisian lilt to the Police Prefect and his hearty, reverberating guffaw, found in Edgar Allan Poe’s third and final foray into detective fiction, a genre some say he laid the groundwork for, which delves into the circumstances surrounding the search for a letter stolen from a woman’s boudoir by the conniving Minister D---, who’s hell-bent on blackmailing her.
