Summary
Once again, death has found its way to Rockfish Island’s National Park and this time, in the form of a terrible climbing accident. When Sheriff Lane discovers the victim has ties to an accidental drowning the summer before, she becomes suspicious the two deaths are linked and not accidents at all.
Recruiting Park Ranger Phillip Russell into her investigation, the two begin looking into the past. Lane, with her new deputy, digging into the life of the latest victim and Philip, befriending those who were involved in the prior death the summer before. It's not long before Philip becomes convinced Sheriff Lane is looking for murder and mayhem where there is none. But Lane, trusting her instincts and intuition, refuses to let the investigation fizzle out. Will the two deaths end up being coincidence after all or will a murderer be unmasked?

Absolutely loved this!
J.C.'s done it again - she had me (literally) on the edge of my seat as I listened to the very talented Nancy Peterson read The Push to me. Plenty of twists, turns, red herrings, and misdirection. I thought I hadn't it all worked out, then I realised I didn't. This second Rockfish Island Mystery is a good as the second, and I loved it. The characters are so well rounded and the relationship between Sheriff Lane and Phil is still fun, slightly flirty, and becoming a reliable friendship. And I really loved the little 'catch' to Lane living in Phil's uncle's cottage be find out about at the end of the book.
Nancy reads it all in a way that has you totally absorbed in the story. I was hanging on her every word. Even if you've read the book I would still recommend listening to Nancy reading it...
I hope I don't have to wait for too long to listen to False Findings, the next book in the series. I can't wait!

Did she jump or was she pushed? Another fun and intriguing read.
Another great mystery! I enjoyed the twists in this and didn't see the ending coming. Found the finale suspenseful and quite tense, I have to admit, which is the sort of plot I like.
I discovered the author on TikTok where she creates most amusing videos about her characters and writing life.
I feel like I've visited Rock Fish Island now and I enjoyed meeting all the local characters again.
Nancy Peterson's narration was excellent. She's so good at the different voices.
Definitely recommend this gripping whodunnit!
