About this listen

Not all knights wear armor. Some wear coveralls and carry a big wrench.

An oblivious prince longs for his knight in shining armor. When his knight has been under his nose all along, will he claim him before it's too late for them both?

As deeply as he craves his own fairy tale happily-ever-after, resort owner Cody Prescott doesn't have time for a relationship. But that doesn't stop him from crushing on most men on Piedras. Luckily for him, they're emotionally unavailable or already taken, so he doesn't have to worry about getting attached.

Wade Buckner, the island's handiest handyman, is tired of waiting for Cody to wake up and realize Wade is the man for the job. He's ready and willing to rescue Cody from just about anything, even questionable hotel guests.

The Harvest Feast is the kick-off for the resort's 125th anniversary, and they have a full house. But something sinister is afoot at the resort, something that even his knight might not be able to rescue Cody from.

Are they trying to kill him, put him out of business, or both?

The Real Thing, book five in the West Coast Forensics series, is dual POV and follows Cody and Wade all the way to their happy ending. Can be listened to as a standalone, but might be better enjoyed if you start with Real Trouble, first in the WCF series.

Great MM Series

Another great instalment in this series, we meet resort owner Cody and general handyman and lifesaver Wade.

It is well written, with great character depth, and the side characters are hysterical. Funny, MM, suspense. I didn't guess the ending in this book.

It's a great addition to this series. Some of the old characters pop in, but not enough to stop it from being read as a standalone. Would recommend.

The narration was yet again on point, but did we expect anything less from Michael Dean? Always a 100% performance.

Fantastic story and audio performance!

I loved Cody and Wade’s story when I read it with my eyes right after it was published. I loved it even more listening to the wonderful Michael Dean perform the story. Here’s what I said back when I read it:

Cody and Wade have been dancing around each other for a while and Elle Keaton has been teasing us about them in previous books. It’s been fun watching Cody grow from a young man forced to deal with a criminal uncle, and having ownership of The Brooch thrust on him before he was really ready, into the hotel owner that everyone loves.

Wade has been his knight in shining armor and keeps holding The Brooch together. He’s a wizard at fixing things and even designs needed parts when they can’t be found to buy. What Cody doesn’t realize is that Wade wants him as much as Cody wants Wade. And, of course, Wade is oblivious to the fact that Cody wants him. Wade has an extreme lack of confidence in certain areas. Everyone seems to leave him and he’s afraid if he lets Cody know how he feels that Cody will leave him, too.

The Real Thing is full of mystery and suspense and romance, too. Once Cody and Wade finally admit their feelings, they get a perfect HEA in the wonderful epilogue that Elle Keaton wrote for them.
