Summary

The balance of life and death must be protected at all costs.

Nivian had never failed to reap a marked soul. That is, until she meets Kain Evers, a Hunter and the only being on earth with the power to destroy her.

When Reapers start to go missing, the Balance is thrown into turmoil, forcing Nivian and Kain to trust each other as they search for answers. Which is no easy task as they fight the feelings growing between them.

As mortal enemies, they were never meant to work together, now they're forced to protect each other if they want any hope of righting the Balance before all is lost.

Unfortunately, to succeed, one of them must die.

Intense, gripping, and romantic, fans of Maggie Stiefvater and Bella Forrest will love The Reapers. See why listeners are calling it “a gripping tale!”

Who to trust??

This audiobook was given to me in exchange for an honest review at my request. This story had a lot going on. It opens up with Nivian just trying to do her job and then she gets roped into a battle of trying to figure out how to keep the balance.

It seems as though throughout this entire book Nivian does not know who to trust. She is told not to trust Kain however she forms a bond with him. Even near the end of the story and she is still unsure of everybody's loyalties. Yes she trust her fellow reapers however there were moments where she was completely over it. She was ready to give up because there was a lot of pressure going on.

Also the big bad was not what I was expecting. I was expecting the antagonist of the story to continue throughout the series however it seems as though the antagonist is gone. I'm really hoping that in the next books explore what happened to the protagonist as well as their followers. I would also like to know what the Silas have going on? He seems like a shady character because he briefly talked about using cane and he is supposed to be the good guy right? However like I said before it looks like no one can be trusted at this point.

Great book!

This is a great book I enjoyed listening to. This story has a lot of twists and turns. It will leave you guessing what is going to happen next.
The narrator does a pretty good job with voices of the different characters.
I would recommend this book.

Great YA Urban Fantasy Romance

The Reapers, the first book in The Hunted Series, is an exciting YA Urban Fantasy. The storyline is well organized, light versus dark with mystery, twists, turns, and subtle romance. I liked the grim reaper concept, death with some gruesome implication, and the collection of souls. There is more than one reaper responsible for the delivery of the souls, they are charged with maintaining the balance.

The cast is excellent with distinct characteristics. The main character, Nivian, is a reaper, quite good at and very committed to her job. However, she is carious when it comes to humans, preferring to be among them. The story is interesting, the mystery keeps you engaged. Since the book is a series, it ends on a cliffhanger. Sarah L. Colton's narration is excellent. She gives life to the characters and the entire story.

I love reapers

I am loving the amount of reaper books available right now! The Reapers was a great. I liked Nivian, she was quirky, clumsy and very curious about humans, but had a huge heart. Kain was a fantastic character too, learning he is a hunter when all he has known is to be an ordinary human boy.
I enjoyed the storyline and the uniqueness of it, yes it may be another reaper book but it is different from others I have read. I was drawn in and could not leave until I had finished.

Enjoyable YA Fantasy

This story was unique and interesting. There was a romance aspect to the story but it was very clean and innocent making this a YA friendly book. The narrator was easy to listen too but her characters were a little flat. There wasn't a lot of distinction between them. Overall I did enjoy it and would consider listening to more in the future.

The Perfect YA PNR

I have read a lot of YA story lines with Reapers and this is one of the best ones I have read in a while. I enjoyed the unique style of writing and the characters themselves.

Sarah Clayton is a new to me narrator and I can't wait to hear more from her.

Unique and Action Packed

This fantasy has underlying tones of romance, but is mostly a clean listen with a lot of action. There was a lot of world building since this is the first book in the series, but the whole concept of the Reapers and the Hunters is very unique and new to me. Great descriptions, loved the writing and these characters were easy to empathize with. There is a huge internal struggle between doing what one is told vs doing what is right. The story is satisfying, so not a huge cliffhanger but leaves a lot of paths open for the next book. Excellent start to a series.

I liked the narration a lot, I think she was s great fit for this book. I would have liked a little more differentiation between Kane and Casio's voices bc they seemed to sound very similar at times. Overall, I was very pleased with the narrator; the performance was clear and easy to understand and the characters were represented well. Great performance by this narrator.

I'm excited to see where the author takes this series and look forward to more of this narrator's performances.
