Excellent story, good twists and well read

What did you like most about The Reversal?

Best book I've had for a while now - found myself making time to continue until the next chapter and arguing with the characters in the court scene, so I know I was paying attention and getting into the story.
Onto the next in the series!

Gripping

Yes, this is a worthy book, keeps your interest all the way through with an eye opening unexpected event before the end. Good job, Mr Connelly.

Strong Story with the two Michael Connelly characters working together Micky Hallier and Bosch

If you like the Lincoln Lawyer and Bosch stories then this book won’t disappoint. It took me a little while to get used to the new narrator but after 1/3 through the book he was Micky and Bosch.
Very well narrated. Highly recommend but would read book one first.

Best yet

To my mind this is Conelly's best yet. Great to see Micky & Harry finally working together and the use of the 1st & 3rd person to illustrate if the part of the story is from either characters view point is really helpful.

Really moves at a pace. Fear and dread for the main characters nearest and dearest is never far away. The last few pages, as it all get wrapped up and the twisted ending is revealed is masterful, leaving you with a real sense of what you imagine, after all is said and done, the main characters are left with.

If you get no other detective novel this year, get this one!

A right family affair..

What a treat to have Haller and Bosch working side by side on a case. Loved the perspective of Haller getting to work the other side of the table. Peter Giles' narration adds to the tension.

Great twists and turns

I always love Mickey Haller, and in this Harry Bosch and Maggie McFierce also have a big part to play. Having been persuaded to act as a prosecutor Mickey is for once a bit out of his depth, but of course rises to the challenge. There's the obligatory bit of personal/family danger. Its a great story, well read, and kept me in my car a bit longer than usual more than once.

Courtroom drama and detective story

Two characters Michael Connelly's developed over several titles - Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch - both sign up for what seems like an impossible prosecution. A courtroom drama and a detective story unfold, with both players living up to their illustrious pasts. As a Bosch fan, I was pleased to see old Harry back and the whole thing unfolded in a gripping way that had me on the edge of my seat. Every spare moment, I was sticking my earbuds in and catching up on the next steps in the tale. There wasn't any great last minute revelation or theatrical finale to build up to like a crescendo, but it didn't feel any less enthralling despite that. A great listen.

Not Enough Bosch

Deftly and expertly written as usual, this still doesn't quite have the hard-bitten drive of a straight Harry Bosch story as Michael Connelly tries to flesh out the developing personality of his current second string, Mickey Haller. There's a lot of courtroom action, and the pace is good, but I guess I'm a dyed in the wool Bosch fan, so wanted more of him and less of Mickey.

Mickey Haller goes from strength to strength

Another mind-spinning story featuring Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch. For once Haller is on the side of the prosecution, in an attempt ot help his ex-wife, even though the move sits uncomfortably on his shoulders. They are charged with the retrial of a man, who has already served a long sentence for the crime which is now under question and the defence is being handled by a lawyer almost as clever and cunning as Haller himself. The narration by Peter Giles is excellent and interest never flags.
