About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

When single mum Joanna hears a rumour at the school gates, she never intends to pass it on. But one casual comment leads to another and now there's no going back . . .

Rumour has it that a notorious child killer is living under a new identity, in their sleepy little town of Flinstead-on-Sea.

Sally McGowan was just ten years old when she stabbed little Robbie Harris to death forty-eight years ago - no photos of her exist since her release as a young woman.

So who is the supposedly reformed killer who now lives among them? How dangerous can one rumour become? And how far will Joanna go to protect her loved ones from harm, when she realizes what it is she's unleashed?

IF YOU'VE ALREADY DEVOURED THE RUMOUR THEN LOOK OUT FOR THE DARE, THE CAPTIVATING THRILLER FROM LESLEY KARA.

Can we ever have a book without hysterical women?

I love crime & thrillers but I can't take a crying whining screaming irrational woman in each book.
otherwise the story is fine.

Me and psychological thrillers just aren’t meant to be

It’s not you, book, it’s me. I keep seeing synopses that sound really exciting, but then they never match up to my expectations. I feel like psychological thrillers should be right up my street, but I’m always disappointed whenever I read one. Before too long I have a certain sense of ennui. I feel sufficiently invested to want to know whether I’ve guessed correctly, but I want the book experience to be over as soon as possible. I think I just really hat books that use the present tense.

Great read

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved all the twists and was enthralled from the start. If Richard and Judy were still on the go it would be one of their reads I am sure.

Disappointing

The central character Jo was infuriating , gossipy then hysterical which actually took away from the story which was pretty weak anyway, so overall rather disappointing.
