About this listen
I didn't know who I was. The official story was shipwreck, and, though I know there was more to it than that, I never asked. Life for me began eight years ago when my uncles fished me from the sea. Keeping me had meant one more blanket on a floor and one more plate on a table that had little enough to start with. I was quick to find ways to make up the difference. I had skills that helped me to pick my marks and contribute my share. I also had plenty to learn about life on the street. That learning took enough time and energy that I didn't think much about my past, until recently. It was getting harder and harder to keep my own secrets. My uncles knew, but it had always been easier for everyone to pretend. I am an orphan, a thief, and now a sailor. I didn't know who I was and if the cannon fire was any indication, my options for who I will be are about to become severely limited.

Started well but then went downhill
After the first couple of hours I got into this book, but thereafter I just got bored of the characters to the point where they started to irritate me. I eventually gave up on the block halfway through.
The other thing that I never warmed to was the narrator. It's not that he is bad or can't narrate, but perhaps more that his voice just does not work for this particular book.
