Summary

The invaders are gone. Earth is in ruins. The strong prey on the weak.

In the wastelands of what’s left, a lone gunslinger delivers his own brand of justice. Some call him lawman. Some call him madman. Some call him vigilante. Some call him killer. Some call him legend.

They all call him...the Sheriff.

This is his story.

In the tradition of classic Westerns and set against a post-apocalyptic sci-fi backdrop, if you like Fallout, Firefly, Mad Max, or the Dark Tower series, you’ll love The Sheriff

great story great narration!

I have never listened to (or read) anything by this author before, and I only bought the audible because I really nike this narrator! That being said, the story is great, and the narration is superb. I just live the way the narrator put emotion in ti the character with his voice! The author an narrator goes well together!

Highly recommended

I love every M.R. Forbes book I’ve read, but “The Sheriff” is probably my favorite. The book is filled with twists and turns and suspense and has a ‘Dark Tower’ vibe. As much as I enjoyed the book - I enjoyed the audiobook even more. Dave Jackson brings each character to life. I almost feel like I know each character personally after listening to it. Can’t wait until The Sheriff Book 2 is released on audiobooks!

Very fun

I don't want to rase your expectations but with the dark tower and fallout mentioned I thought it wouldn't hold up, but they weave a very cool world and there is some HP Lovecraft stuff I just downloaded number 2 and am getting right back to it!

It’s ok if you’re sold on this universe

So, ok I’ve not read the ENTIRE books in this universe (too many books with too many divergent storylines); but I did read some of them. Until I realized that it is an unending and repetitive grind. The Sheriff Duke books - I thought would have a sort of a resolution and a plot line to propel an otherwise stagnant series. Well, not so much. Look it’s not fun to read (much less listen to) about stupid/ignorant people ad nauseum - no matter the circumstances. Also, the whole affected “pos”/“neg” speech pattern gets really old. It takes exactly the same amount of time to say”yes”/“no” - yet with less douchebaggery affectations. The story line does not waver from - bad “man/people” take advantage of the less fortunate (yet, “dumb as a box of hammers” populous); The Sheriff rides into town - mayhem ensues, everybody dies (good/bad/indifferent) - rinse & repeat. But, really it’s the whole stupid “pos/neg” thing that really annoys.

Guess who’s grepping back!?

Another round of Sheriff Duke hits just as hard as the rest. Look forward for the rest of the series!

A great story

The maah up of genres is such a natural. The MC is cut from the early westerns living by his own strict code. a fun listen with a narrator who's voice and reading style fits the genre. He reminds me of some of the great radio western stars

Where's Jonathan Davis?!

Jonathan Davis is the voice of the sheriff from the beginning why change now? Dave Jackson is good but he's not Hayden Duke..... If they narrate anymore in this series I prolly won't listen. I'll just read the books.
