About this listen

Will she be the Society's salvation... or its downfall?

The black-ops government agency called Sigma broke Justin Delgado, trained his psionic talent, and turned him into a killer. Then he escaped and joined the Society, an underground resistance movement of psions determined to use their talents to bring Sigma down. Competent, cold, and cruelly efficient, he's the best operative the Society has, a legend among the psions who fight a shadow war against an enemy that owns the courts, the press, and the police. Feared even by his own teammates, hunted by the government, and too damaged to feel anything but clinical rage, he is utterly alone - until he meets Rowan.

When Rowan Price stumbles across Delgado's team in an abandoned house, he is assigned to make contact with her, bring her in, and keep her alive - because Rowan is one of the most powerful psychics the resistance has ever encountered. If the government gets its hands on her, she could very well mean the downfall of the resistance, because nobody, not even Rowan, is quite sure how far her talents extend.

The Society will welcome Rowan, if she can stay alive long enough to join them. Unfortunately, there's a traitor buried in the ranks. If the Society goes down, Rowan is at risk. God alone knows what Delgado will do to keep her safe, because Rowan is fast becoming the only thing in the world he cares about...

Review

This is a fantastic series, I am so upset it ended on a cliff hanger I am desperate to know what happens next. The story is riveting and so exciting and there is a smouldering romance that leaves an ache in my heart. The narrator is excellent and the tone of voice helps to increase the compelling nature of the story. I absolutely loved it and it deserves the 5stars I gave it.

.Urban fantasy and black-ops ! Am I in Heaven?

Every so often I like to try a new author and / or narrator. Sometimes you strike gold and other times hours of your life drift past in grey torpor. With Lilith Saintcrow's The society read by Rayna Cole we're definitely talking about a golden aura permeating my ears and mind.
The narration is near-perfect for that style and the combination of author and narrator produces some powerful moments that will tug at the the heart strings ,make you laugh ,shock you and at one point you may just cry.The world and backstory painted for us is very elaborate.however the detail did leave some room for curiosity and its that curiosity about the shadow war,the Psions,.Justin.Rowan that is driving me crazy now ! Just coming from listening to this book about 3 mins ago I am so so eager for more of this fantastical world Lilith has created I just want to dive in and live there with the books characters ,a trait I think all great audiobooks share.I am an Urban fantasy nut and this ticked all the boxes for me and I lowed the black ops angle ( another literary genre I love ) With the two combined it was truly awesome and sort of reminded me loosely of the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. The scary thing is ,is that the black ops angle was vey believable in the world we live in.So I'd recommend this book with hesitation. It’s been a thrilling ride so far I cant wait to see what happens next!I requested to review a copy of this audiobook for an honest review .

only thing is for me how I read these books the first time Rowan didn't sound so whiny and Justin didn't sound so darn puppy dog!! 😂

A disaster

The narration is a disaster, a shaky whiny weak mousy voice from start to finish. It was a torture. The story background is interesting but the characters are so fake and phony. The main two characters are weak, stupid and laughable. I just tried my best to listen till the end because I paid for it. Not worth a dime.
