Good story

I had been disappointed in the last JD novel I read, this was better - but not up to the standard of his earlier novels which were really tense.
Lincoln Rhyme seems to be less sure of himself, and I rather liked his arrogance fuelled by knowledge that he was right. However, In this novel he seemed a bit gumpy and much ruder to his nurse, which I wasn't keen on.
Overall quite a good read though

Not bad

Took awhile to get into and sometimes my mind would drift while listening. The parts I did concentrate on were good hence 4 stars, but I must have drifted through half the book and didn't feel inclined to backtrack over the parts I missed.
No doubt I will listen to the story again at some point and if when that happens I will give an update to this review.

A Page Turner

A tale of the disturbing reality of people smuggling combine
ed with the effects of the Chinese Cultural revolution is an insight into the sometimes brutal content in this fast paced
novel. l

Enjoyable

Narration was very good. Parts of the story were a little repetitive, but generally I enjoyed the story.

Great story however audio story version has issues

The story itself is great and just as expected from a good writer. However this version has taken each of the “profile” pages, which list out all the the evidence Rhyme finds and kept them in the audio so there is a great deal of repetition that spoilt the flow and was really not needed!!! Boring.
The narrator was ok but not as good as other narrators of Jeffery Deavers books. Not much difference with some of the characters.

Good story

Great story - narration isn’t as good as other Lincoln Rhyme books which are done by Jeff Harding.

Characters brought to life by excellent narration

Not the best Rhyme (or Deaver) novel, but I was impressed with the characterisation and that was what kept me listening.
