Summary

"We have a patient who has been involved in a serious accident. We believe he’s your husband."

When Freya first met Phil, she thought he was the man of her dreams. He bought her roses every week, booked surprise trips to sun-soaked destinations, and showed her affection like she’d never experienced before. But over time the dream had become a violent nightmare. And now Freya is packing her bags, knowing it’s time she escaped their increasingly broken marriage.

But then Freya gets a visit from the police. Phil’s been in a horrific car crash and - as he comes around - it becomes clear that he remembers nothing since their blissful honeymoon two years before, back when their relationship was perfect. All he wants is to be happily married again.

Freya knows giving him another chance could be dangerous. But now he’s the one who needs her, it’s a chance to turn the tables and to change the outcome of their relationship once and for all. After all, he will know only what she chooses to tell him....

But what really happened during those two years of marriage? And as they start over again, who is safe? And whose life is in danger?

Fans of The Girl on the Train, Behind Closed Doors, and Date Night will love The Stranger in My Bed.

Enjoyable

Good story line. Enjoyed. Would recommend a read. Small twist at the end. Nothing mind blowing but enjoyed the ending

Well done

After reading the perfect stepmother I thought I'd try this one. so glad I did. I thought it dealt with the underlying theme very well and threaded it into the storyline beautifully among all the other little side themes. must admit it had even me doubting my thoughts occasionally! the narration helped carry it through perfectly.

Repetitive whiner. Boring

If this had been a paper book, I would have given up trying to read it. I listened to the audio book and gave up twice, before finally deciding to stick with it. I was honestly fed up, of hearing the same phrases repeated over and again. The tone of the female character was whining, with little change in delivery to counter balance the pathetic way she examined her thoughts and reactions. The husband did the same thing, which is a stultifying way to fill up a book. It is just constant repetition of the same thoughts.
It was all one long miserable tale from beginning to end. No characters were sympathetically or well drawn. Even the victim had little to offer, other than an unbelievably childish view on life and love. Could anyone be that stupid? This could have made a great story in the hands of a talented writer. If repetitions were removed it would be 50 pages long. Very disappointing. I will not read this 'author' again and do not recommend that you do.

Suspenseful

You're never sure of the truth, just when you think you know there's a spanner thrown in the works.

Returned after 30 mins

I only lasted 30 minutes, between it being badly written and the over acted narration, I just couldn’t wait to get it returned. I usually have a rule of 2 hours before I return, but this was one of the worst half hours I’ve heard. The story sounded good from the blurb... but also the reviews said it was predictable from the start and if that’s the case I have already got an idea of the ending.

Predictable but entertaining

I really enjoyed listening to the narrator and I liked how the author created suspense and mystery.
However it was all just too predictable and not long after we was introduced to the sister, I already knew the direction the story was going in.
And I don't really understand why the author choose to build up the story like this, because from the get go we already knew the dynamic of thier relationship.
It would have been better if we didn't initially know who was the abusive one.
So while Phil was trying to discover the truth, the readers would also be questioning who to believe and trust.
The only thing I didn't see coming was the slight twist at the end.

Good storyline

I liked the storyline a lot, I predicted the ending pretty much from the start but I didn't mind that. I found the narrator quite irritating, the tones of voice she used for characters weren't great and she made freyer seem whining all of the time. The Birmingham accent was terrible that should have been researched with people actually from there!!

Just too long

I feel there was about 1.5hrs added to the story to bring it up to the minimum length of 7hrs. However nothing new was introduced and it keep going with same old theme for longer than necessary. But I did keep listening to find out what would happen, so maybe that's an above average rating for the story in that case.

Predictable and a little boring

Wasn’t the best or the worst. Quite a basic premise but kept me listening throughout
