Summary
The final installment in Elodie Harper's Sunday Times bestselling Wolf Den Trilogy Amara's journey has taken her far; from a slave in Pompeii's wolf den to a high-powered courtesan in Rome... though her story is not over yet. While Amara plays for power in Rome's imperial palace, those dearest to her remain in Pompeii. But it is AD 79, and mighty Mount Vesuvius is about to make itself known... 'Beautiful, moving, captivating.' JENNIFER SAINT 'Vivid, unsentimental and compelling.' THE TIMES

an absorbing and dramatic audiobook
set against the background of the Roman empire and amidst the streets of Pompeii and the shadow of Mt Vesuvius, we meet Amara, a freed slave, engaged to an important Roman. she has come a long way from her position in the Wolf Den brothel in book 1 of the same name and this book picks up immediately after the events of book 2 The House with the Golden Door. Amara's status always seems to hang in the balance though with her previous owner present as a menacing threat to revert her back to her old days. There is so much drama in this book based around the natural disaster of Mt Vesuvius. Its eruption causes chaos and shapes the course of events for all and bringing so much loss. an absolutely absorbing listen.

Was so sorry when it ended, loved it
I saw the final book on an audible offer, decided to try from the beginning, was unconvinced at first but I loved the characters the story, I was swept along with it and felt quite bereft when it ended

Well written story
I enjoyed the trilogy, and had a good ending.
Thing I found irritating as I was taught that the eruption burying Pompeii was on the 24th of August 79 A.D and not the 24th of October as mentioned a number of times in the book.
A recommended read

Great book
I loved it, living the eruption of the Vesuvius through Amara’s eyes is a great experience. Even better than the two previous ones.

beautifully done
the only problem with this was the very noticable pauses from the narrator mid sentence. regardless, this was so well written that ill be listening to it again. and again. and again.

Truly Remarkable
I cannot put into words how deeply this series has affected me. Amara is truly a remarkable woman.
When this last instalment of the story was announced. I listened to the first two books for the third time and then this one. The weaving of the real life events of the eruption of Vesuvius into this story was so powerful.
I really cannot recommend this series of the Wolf Den books enough. Elodie Harper is a genius in my eyes.

Characters that capture the heart
A book I was so invested in I hardly dare finish it. The kind of characters you think of long after the chapter ends. Must read! I hope to see this in television one day
