Summary
Princess Celeste is bored to tears, and her brothers, Prince Jude and Prince Torrin, aren't doing much better.
In a palace where all they have to look forward to are endless games of croquet and barley-water soup for supper, they don't have much by way of excitement. Until the one night Torrin sees a light in a forgotten tower of the palace, and they meet a wonderful and mysterious aunt who unlocks a brand-new world of adventure they will never forget.

Charming fantasy story for the under tens
This is a charming children's story for the under tens, it revolves around an introductory adventure of The Three Royal Children in the title when they meet their Batty Aunt for the first time and set off in her flying machine to a distant kingdom with her companion Lester the talking Bat. There in a Lilliputian land of tiny folk they learn the important lesson of working together. It sounds like the children and Aunt Maggie may well be venturing forth on future adventures together.
It is expertly told by Lisa Hicks who adopts a warm motherly tone like Angela Lansbury's Mrs Potts from Beauty and the Beast. The perfect gentle voice for this tale. It is a short, straight reading with no embellishment of music etc. A good length for young children.
